Atreus by Deriaz

Atreus

Deriaz

So -Lofi (of FA) had the brilliant idea of painting from photos of fursuiters for practice. My main focus/concerns right now are lighting and color, so I thought that was a perfect idea and he said I should give it a shot.

Derecho snapped this photo of Atreus. (Original is here! Go show your love there too.) When I asked him if I could use a photo or two of his, as I like the lighting in his shots, he said yes. So I figured I'd start with one that I've really enjoyed since seeing it.

Hopefully Atreus is alright with being painted for practice! And thank you to Derecho for allowing me to use one of the photos you snapped, and to -Lofi for having the idea in the first place. I may try this again. It was fun! I learned a lot for identifying color, some ways in which lighting plays on forms, and so on. This was a good experience.

This is a really nice idea! I think even something like this could potentially be "badge commissions"--I think there would be many people interested in a "portrait-photo-style" art badges for conventions! :D In the future, if you know you're going to a convention, you could even offer a pre-order one of these for badges to be picked up at the convention. :)

Oooh, that's an idea right there. Only problem is that it would cater to people who already have a photo, and then it treads into "Why not just get a normal commission?" So. Hmm. I think there's potential there. But I'd have to navigate it carefully I think!

With tweaking, it could probably be a viable commission type. From the conventions I've gone to...even though fursuiters get photos taken, lots still love getting art badges of their fursona. This could be different from the traditional art badges you see from most artists at conventions...and that could be cool! :)
