Last year we wrapped a year-long Traveller campaign I'd been playing in. It was mostly your standard Third Imperium, except with the addition of AU chakats. Given there's taur races and fur races, and uplifts exist, they slot in fairly well as a concept, so I brought in an AU version of Swiftwind, named Mistral.

Like the original, shi was an engineer turned pilot, and ended up covering both roles more often than not(though with more emphasis on the piloting) as most of the other characters were focused on ground rather than space. That didn't leave hir much of a role on ground either, as hir natural abilities lent themselves basically to shooting, so shi took up a laser pistol and made it a habit to snipe at the enemy from unexpected angles - preferably on a wall or the ceiling if possible.

While we were out near the Aslan and their Glorious Kingdom and the Sindali, we managed to make connections and get ourselves some high-end power armor.  Which led to Mistral becoming something of a flying beamspam machine outside the ship.  You know that stock footage of the Freedom Gundam targeting a bunch of enemies and shooting them all down at once?  That was pretty much hir, just with fewer barrels and rapid fire lasers coordinated by the suit's onboard computer.
