So I did a thing...
This is technically new, but I actually did it a while ago - a few months, actually. I just got really ambivolent about how to present it... and thus no decision was made. I know. I'm a fantastic role model.
Anyway, eventually I gave up and just did it like this :P
So what do we have here? Well, I've seen all kinds of cool variations popping up here and there and I thought, hey, why not do one of my own! Then I had the bright idea to combine it with a similar idea to this: http://mewitti.deviantart.com/art/Intro-to-Zoology-I-434965451
It's an idea I've really loved and thought I should get in on. Well, I'm not overly proud of the result, but I think it came out rather well regardless!
Alas, yes. This is not real. I'm just really good with photo editing, actually l3
If there's enough interest, I might actually release the original images of this stuff. And hey, perhaps even more~ Another species to do variations of, maybe? Give ideas, or even give critique on this piece! I'd love to know how to do it better :3
Either way. Enjoy!

Well, I'd say that's adding a human touch and authenticity to it. But I'd also say that's me trying to cover my own ass xP
Thanks for the crit! I don't recall now if I ever got it proofed actually, and can see an error or two myself, so... probably not. But ah well, you enjoyed it, so I'm glad it worked :3
I love love love the idea of Pokemon variations. It makes so much sense, and as a biology student / pet snake fan, I am all over that. I am also a sucker for field-guide-type things. Great job! I bet it'd be an awesome conversation starter to leave on your coffee table :)
It looks like a freaking real book. For a moment, I thought there was an Art of Pokemon book and you were in it?

I love it! It's a really cool idea and you've done a great job executing it. Your image editing is fantastic. As for criticism, the only problem I spotted was that the word choice in a few parts seemed a bit unproffessional, such as using "based off" rather than "Based off of" or "based on." I know that's a fairly small detail, but it breaks the realism a little bit.
