This is awesome! I best she was difficult to draw as well, I have some serious respect for you. Since I tried to draw a Chibi spider women, but just couldn't pull it off well. I think making her back legs in shaddow like that really works, since i think it stops the piece look messy but the legs are still there.

Plus I really like her over all elegance.

Aw, thank you!!!! She was a ton of fun to work on and I'd been feeling like I needed a new spider lady design for a while now...so!!

She actually appeared in a short comic I recently worked on too ( https://www.weasyl.com/submission/1002523/franny-fever-ch-10-on-sale-now ) and she turned out to be a bit more of a dork than I expected hehe!!

Elegant, but mostly roleplaying it. Loves fancy things and is into acting as well!!

      • Link

Oh that sounds really awesome. It is always a bonus that she was fun to work on and it is great you got so much out of her as well.

Sometimes characters can surprise us, but I think that can be cool. Since they are more likely to be different to each other that way.

        • Link

Oh absolutely! I adore the way characters change the more you draw and find out about them-- one of my favorite things about being a comic artist, honestly!

          • Link

I see. I don't find that I find that I have to settle on their look a little a first to get it consistent. However after that they pretty much stay the same. So once I have their look, and know how to draw that certain character. They will always look like that character.

            • Link

I def feel that! I guess I just don't always think the first draft of a character is the best draft but exceptions happen with everything! :D

              • Link

Fair enough, it can be interesting to hear how other artists work though. :) I am so happy I can have these kinds of conversations again, since DA is so dry for things like that!

                • Link

It's true!! It seems like Weasyl isn't super active either but maybe that's just me?? Regardless it's a better place to talk to artists than DA!

                  • Link

It doesn 't seem super active more due to the fact that it is smaller. However the people you do talk to do seem really great and want to talk about art with you. I have also not run across anyone with an ego yet, who just wants people to come and tell them how amazing they are. That is all they are there for.

So yeah, I do think this place is better to talk to artist than dA as well. However at the same time it would be awesome if it did grow a little bit too! Everyone I have spoken to so fair has been friendly and chatty.

                    It is really nice.

                    • Link

I agree! I think with time it'll pick up tho! It's just about posting and talking to people and getting the word out and etc~~ <3

                      • Link

I think it is nice to make friends and learn from each other, while we are getting the word out though. Since art friends can be so awesome.

However yeah, I hope this site picks up too! I am telling people who I think could be interested about it about this place. Since overall it is pretty good.

                        • Link

Hell yeah! Artists should stick out for each other! (Well, people in general, really!)

I don't actually have that many close artist friends who draw monster people or anthros so I don't have many people to invite, oops!!

                          • Link

                            Oh I agree.

Well I don't draw much of that stuff, and in theory the site is for everyone. So I just invite everyone, even though it is fury heavy!

                            • Link

I always thought it was supposed to be furry centric cuz of the name and cuz of the mascot? I thought it was supposed to be like a better FA alternative but it does truly seem to be an all encompassing site, which is nice!

                              • Link

I can see why you would get that impression. Since yeah with the mascot and a lot of people from FA coming over is going to have an influence.

                                • Link

I think also the allowance of porn/non-human genitals is another reason for me, haha!

                                  • Link

I do admit that is a plus. Since I do actually enjoy drawing it. I mean Patreon allows it as well as Tumblr. However I think this now only leaves dA that doesn't for me. So well there is more justification to draw more.

So I think that is a plus! Since honestly I love the challenge because you really have to think about their poses and how their body moves in a different way, and how their body looks doing it.

                                    • Link

I've just always loved drawing porn. I thought it was just really fun and a really fun way for me to develop characters and show people and intimate part of said character's relationships.

I have always and will always love drawing porn aaah~

                                      • Link

I have never thought about it that way before. Mind you there is only one character I have drawn in such a way. Others have been random girls, and not actual characters of mine.

I a a little bit perverted too, but that is probably just one reason why I fell back in love with drawing it. Since I stopped for such a long time.

                                        • Link

Aaah, well, I wouldn't call myself 'perverted' since it brings up the wrong connotation for why I like making porn but yeah, I feel you!

                                          • Link

Well I consider myself a part of the BDSM community, and my community is very keen on keeping every safe and consensual.

So while I get perverted has different connotations for different people. I think they can be a none negative use of the word, and where I am from then as long as everything is between consenting adults and people are kept safe. Then it is considered okay. I regularly hear people from my BDSM community call themselves perverse. Since it can mean leading someone away from what is considered normal or lead astray. If that makes sense?

My country laws say that under a certain age, you can't actually give consent. So it comes under statutory rape, and therefore not consensual. So is considered far from on in my community. If that makes sense?

So maybe it is a cultural difference? However if for you, it has that connotation. Then I can see why you would avoid the use of the word.

I am a women that really enjoys the female form. I am very much attracted to women in a sexual way. So I can take great pleasure in drawing women in sexual situations. So that is why I can really enjoy drawing porn, and why often I haven't really drawn heterosexual sex. Even though I consider myself bisexual, from a visual point of view I enjoy women so much more. I also have no objection to drawing bondage situations, and I really like images of female masturbation. That is why I used the label for myself. Since I do really enjoy it.

I hope that clears it up, and if it is a cultural thing I will try and be more careful of the use of the word around people from different countries.

                                            • Link

Honestly, I only don't use the word for myself because I am also a lady (in the U.S.) who has only ever experienced creepy guys use the word "perverted" to creepily describe themselves, lol.

So, when I hear the word, it really only brings up a negative connotation for me-- especially because said people would use it in such a way that implied enjoying sex, porn, etc was negative and un-feminine in a way.

I've had to fight a lot against cultural and media induced senses of shame around this kind of stuff and that's a lot of the reason I even make porn myself, gotta be honest!

I just wanna make porn I enjoy with characters who I like that's self-indulgent in the ways that I want it to be and I want to create a space for people who like the same things I do just by creating porn myself.

This may sound creepy, but I know I definitely needed the type of porn I'm making now when I was younger and discovering my sexuality.

REGARDLESS THO; that's super great to hear on your part and I really appreciate you clearing up why you use it because that's a super fun reason and it's funny since said character in this picture we are originally commenting on is super into BDSM and ties other ladies up?? She's a roeplaying BDSM spider who is kind of a dork hehe!

                                              • Link

I see that makes sense. I am sorry you have had those experiences. I am female myself. So honestly I do respect other women very much and I do consider myself a feminist. I embrace that I am a women who does enjoy these things, just as much as possibly even more than a guy does. That is natural as well. Luckily I live in an environment where people do view me in a negative manner for that though. However as a whole the UK is more relaxed about sex then the US is. In the UK at 16 you can pose in a national news paper topless.

However it would explain further why I am far more comfortable with the word then you are.

It is also not creepy since well we do need to discover who we are in a way. Especially in a society where straight is assumed the default and there are social expectations there. So I think if drawing helps, then it is a healthy outlet since it is just you and your pen and paper. Or which ever media you prefer.

That is awesome about your character, since the character in my avatar is lesbian and is really into BDSM. Although she is a switch so will sometimes sub as well. Although with my main RP partner with her Apple will mostly be the dom, since my RP part does prefer to sub.

So yeah BDSM can be between two women as well, and even if that is not the case. The women isn't always the sub. It depends on the couple and their preferences. However it is all well and good as long as the partners respect each other. It is why after care is considered so important as well.

                                                  Well, awesome!

Sorry, I don't have much more to say since most everything you're saying I already know haha///
(Aside from the personal stuff, of course!)

                                                  • Link

That can happen, I am happy we cleared up the original confusion though! :)

Just I can get a bit passionate about the things I care about, and feminism is actually really important to me. :)

Oh, of course! Passion is so important!! (And so is feminism)

                                                      • Link

I am happy you agree! Sorry my reply was so late. I have been out of the country!

                                                        • Link

haha! I was out of town for a week too, how funny!
