[kind of a breakthrough here - stylizing the heads, making them more iconic, doing patently unrealistic things with the hair - also smoothing out the exaggerated bodies making them less awkward - i was also getting into Caravaggio at the time and started to drop the color into a narrow dynamic range with a few intense highlights]
