Brother like Sister (critique requested)

carlie-nuclearzombie

My two Bleach characters who are in fact also my persona's my normal one (the female) and my gender bent version! I made them Brother and sister!

Anyway this is the first time you would of seen my female persona coloured with the shinigami out-fit, and so you don't get confused she is an Arrancar test subject, she is an ally to the shinigami not the Arrancar/Espada/Hollows ect ect :P

Anyway Hope you like it!! :D

    Hey i wanted to give critique earlier but I had to work so here goes now ^^

    Shading: It doesn't seem that you have a clear light perspective. Some of the places shaded don't make sense. If the light source is behind the characters, have more shading in the front. If it,s above them, have more shading underneath the chin and arm. By the male's arm, it looks like it's above but from his badge it looks like it's from the side-ish.

    Hands: Man, hands are a fucking bitch. I will straight up say that. Really, look at your hands they have several points where they bend. The thumb kinda looks dislocated for the male. Move it back just a tad. The thumb for the female, move it up a little. Again, work on the fingers and give them more form. Also, pay attention to perspective with the fingers.

    Feet: Same as hands. Feet suck. They're like, malformed hands. Your feet are actually a good size but you need to watch the toes. Give them more depth as well. They can separate and you can wiggle them. They're not paws. Maybe give a little more definition where the ankle is to show the tendon.

    Legs: First off, good job in the length. I, myself, have a huge problem in getting the proportion right just when the person is standing. Everyone looks like midgets. That said, the right leg looks too fat. Yes, women who work out do have a good booty but go a little bit easier on the thighs. It resembles more male than female. Also, keep the shins straight. They are bones. For the left leg, try a different pose because, honestly that's just uncomfortable. The kneecap is also missing. When the leg is stretched out, there's a slight bump, not a cut-off.

    Arms: The male's arms look a tad off center. The elbows don't match up. The left arm is shorter than the right arm. You can tell by the biceps. The female, again the right arm looks decent proportion wise but the left arm is too far forward. It also looks like she has, like, two elbows or the arm is just broken. You just over-accentuated the muscles is all. I recommend looking at some pictures of women who do fitness and see how their muscles get toned while still looking feminine.

    Overall, I really like the character designs. The male looks badass and the tattoos on the female are a real nice touch. I also like the design of her sword.

    I recommend pose-maniacs or general google search of fighting stances. Those really make a difference, seriously. Also, study anatomy. How muscles and bone structure works and the like. Other than all that, great job, really. Keep practicing some basics and you'll go far.

    thank you for the critique and yes I need to work on my shading, to be honest I hate my shading style even when I look up a million tutorials I still never get it right, I hope one day I get better on it, its one of my main goals in my art.

    As for the anatomy I have all ways had troubles with that and have recently started getting better, so I totally apreciate all the tips you're giving me, thank you!

    hands and feet are all ways a pain to draw, especially hands, I usually draw anthros and furries so the feet for them I have nailed, as for humans I always hate drawing feet.

    if you know any good tutorials that would be awesome if you can send me over some via inbox, or link.

    also I am glad you like the character designs, swords and tattoos :D

      Honestly the best tutorial is drawing what you see in life. Use a cup or something and shine a lamp on it then note how the light and shadow fall.

      Same thing with drawing hands and feet. Use your own as a guide. Also sorry for not responding sooner. You didn't directly respond to my comment so i didn't get the notification ^^;
