Still suck at titles. xD It sort of makes sense? Lol. Prepare for a novel!

Hey there!

This is yet another Caeldian character to add to the family! However, she is not of my creation, but of my dear friend Terra. I told her that I was trying to improve, and so she asked me for a request. When I heard that she wanted me to turn her character Awry into a Caeldian, I was pretty shocked and really, really, overjoyed. It's a big honour that she's even interested in my characters, let alone the Caeldians. So I was a happy glee-filled squeeing thing. You see, Terra is one of my closest friends, if not one of few people I trust the most. She is along side my fiance Jade in terms of trust, and there is no other friend that I've ever been as close to as I am to her. It was kinda weird, since from the very beginning all those years ago when I first met her, I was drawn to her and at the time I was so shy that I had a pretty bad anxiety issue. But she was the only one I actually wanted to approach. ((Okay, enough of this friend-close-ez-cheese shite lul.))

So when she asked for a Caeldy version of Awry, there was no saying “no” for an answer. In fact, I've given her this design/Caeldian to keep as her own if she wants to make her a character for the universe. :] I don't give this away lightly, especially nowadays. I don't like to make this seem all “membahs only *turns up nose*” but this species is a really close part of me, and if you understand this species, then you're bound to know who I am as a person. It's letting someone into my own world. I haven't yet come up with a Caeldian name for this girlie, but once Terra gives me some info, then I'll be sure to come up with somethin' nice.~

Okay, so about the image itself.

So I did three mockups of this design, all pretty similar except for the blue of her fur. I was given a few details about Awry to keep in mind, such as to keep her “Ocean blue with a pop of red”, “traditional tribal designs” and “Awry's earring”. After inquiring a bit more about what specific type of blue, I was told to keep to a more ocean blue, specifically the Caribbean waters. This blue is the third of what I chose and what she ended up liking the most.

So I made Awry!Caeldian more robust than Onivale (my main Caeldy) by a lot when it comes to the thickness of her waist as well as her arms and legs. I also made her more fluffy and kept her fur kind of everywhere because knowing Awry as a character, I have always imagined her as constantly on the move. Caeldians have two types of tails, one where their tails kind of slim down to a taper, and one where their tails end in a poof. With Awry, I chose to go with a poof. I thought it suited her and her personality. Plus it's cute. XD

So the blue in her represents the ocean, but what about the red and the tan? Well red is a colour that has always stuck with Awry, and I chose the tan of her fur to represent the tan in her flesh. Being an island girl/pirate, she has a nice rich tan tone to her skin. As for her markings, I wanted to go for that “tribal but not tribal” look that Terra mentioned. It wasn't the style that I'm used to when it comes to my friends' version of tribal, but more what I imagine what many tribes may actually paint on their bodies and works of art. I imagine more organic, not perfect, markings that go for heavy and loose representations in nature. I especially went for that in the red. I kept the idea of circles/spots going throughout her body, but with the red I repeated the pattern almost everywhere. To me, it represents the sun. When I think of the ocean, the Caribbean in particular, I think of the sun joining in, always a companion to the ocean. So I portrayed that in the red patterns. Kind of like a sun with rays. Also, the patterns on her tails look like little sea turtles to us. That was totally unintentional lul. But it was cute so we agreed to keep it! But I also kept similar patterns with the blue and tan on her feet. With the blue/tan throughout her body I also mimicked the look of waves on the ocean/coastline. I kept her elongated fur on the back of her legs all blue, because the flowing fur reminds me of waves on the ocean. I forgot to mention this to her, but the spots all over her body could also be seen as "bubbles", as that's something common to find along a coastline. :3

I originally chose yellow for the leathery bit near her eyes, mouth, and paw pads, but that was the only thing she wanted changed. She decided on a chocolate brown for this, and I think it came out much better. I honestly chose the yellow to begin with to keep Awry's hair translated to her Caeldian form. As for the silver marking on her left eye, we both collaborated on that together. It was tough, but almost the entire design came from Terra herself! While livestreaming, she jokingly said to connect the marking to the nostril, but when I did it she ended up liking it! Then she translated it to see what it would look like on this girlie's homid/humanish form, tweaked it a bit, and this is the final result. Yay!

Finally, I kept her earring on her left ear and her sky blue eyes. :] The only thing you cannot see here is the scar she has on her other brow.

These are flats for now, I may or may not go back to add shading. XD That's all for my novel of a description. I think I touched on everything xD I hope you guys enjoy.
