Im sure Kaari can help you clean the place if you ask her politely. Thats what friends be for.
Cleaning together would be a nice, easily achievable goal to counter-balance all the loss you've both had to deal with.

I guess it wouldn’t hurt to ask?

Lana: “Hey Kaari…after breakfast here. Do you mind if I ask for some help?”

Her ears perk up for a second and she swivels over to face me.

Kaari: “Sure. What’s up?”

Lana: “I’ve been really falling behind on house keeping here.”
I let out a sigh.

You uh... it's, been a bit of a mess recently, and you could really use the assist in making it a bit more livable for the both of you for the time being.

Lana: “It’s getting to be a mess everywhere, and I could use help making things more comfortable again.”

Kaari: “I can help with some chores. It might help keep my mind off things too.”

I give her a soft smile,
Lana: “Thanks Kaari.”
