All Is Not Lost and Found (vashy_wings)

BlueKittyTales

February 1st 2003

Philippa remembered the day she had injured herself on the job. She had been repairing one of the machines at a factory she had been called out to when she had cut her foot on a sharp edge that hadn’t been sanded away. What she had also recalled was the agony her wound had left her in – far more than it should have done for such a small wound. She had paid it no mind at all until, during a dinner party she was hosting at her house, she suddenly collapsed whilst giving a speech about how she felt about her life up to that point.

She had woken up in a hospital, where it had been explained that she had developed a flesh eating disease that was corroding her lower left leg from the inside. She had been terrified out of her wits, scared that she would soon die without achieving the goals she wanted to. The doctors, however, had been optimistic. Her left leg had been the only limb affected and the infection had not reached as far as her knee. But the only way to save her life and keep her knee joint was an immediate amputation.

Reluctantly, she agreed. And after a gruelling operation, she was free from the disease but left with only one leg. She had never imagined that she would spend her 21st birthday and that Christmas in hospital with doctors doing all they could to keep her alive. Once the new year came, she was finally discharged and eager to get back to work. Despite having to learn to walk again after buying a custom made pegleg, she saw the loss of her leg as an opportunity to test her engineering prowess. She hoped she would become the very first one to build her own electronic prosthetic leg. The only trouble she had was deciding where to start.

Drawn by the highly talented vashy_wings, we see a depiction of my most recently created character Philippa, posing here in her attire. Her friends say that she was quite flirty in her past, though in the right environments, this tendency rears its head once more. Thank you very much for this lovely piece. ^^
