This is actually an older piece from August of last year, that I simply forgot to upload. ^^; It concerns the story for a special version of WhiteMantis's personal character, Amaranth (she is called Setareh' in this storyline).

Setareh, former name Fatima, fled from her home country of Morocco during the French invasion of 1907. She became lost in the Sahara desert, where she ended up meeting Írmo, my desert spirit. They spent a night together, during which Írmo gifted her with a symbolic rebirth of sort. She was given the name Setareh, and woke with very little memory of her former life, or even what had transpired in Írmo's realm. She began to be frequented, however, by nebulous visions of a horned figure dancing in the dunes, mixing with the wind and sand. These visions sometimes came when she dreamed... and other times, when she was close to death.

When she shares intimacy with Bagheera (he has a dedicated story for this timeline, which you can find [url=https://www.furaffinity.net/view/37030334/]here[/url]), she sometimes asks him to strangle her to the very edge of death... and it is in those moments, when she walks the ethereal plane between life and death, that she sees the dancing figure upon the dunes most clearly.

Eventually, Setareh attempts to sculpt the mysterious figure she frequents in her visions. She deduces that, perhaps, the figure is a hybrid of gazelle and leopard, and represents her desire to have a child with Bagheera (she has trouble conceiving because their species is so far apart). But the truth remains obscured, hidden behind the veils of yesterday.
