The unnamed leopard designated "Habiti's Mother" is based off of the mother leopard from The Leopard Son, and appear in later iterations of the story under the name Masika (Swahili for "Rain").

The leopard cub named Berolla is based off of the leopard cub who died in Beauty & the Beasts. She is Jowana's shy sister, and appears in later iterations of the story as Tahaya (Swahili for "Timid/Modest").
