So kaliko wanted to redesign himself, this is how he wants to look it seems... 

Unfortunatley Kalikos model was about the same age as Fifis, making parts virtually impossible to come by, and under a stressful arguement with Fifi (as they do sometimes have disagreements) Kaliko under the stress blew his main link, which is a fuse array that is responsible for acting as electrical protection on his data lines. 

These fuses are incredibly intricate and cannot be serviced, and the type of fuse he uses was made long since obsolete. The resistance of such fuses are finely tuned and his circuits are very picky about their resistance.
