Welcome all to a new series of tips, tricks and advice that may help you design/redesign a character. Please note Firstly I am NOT a professional, im just forwarding my observations!

Third tip is accociated with Sihouettes and the characters outline.

A character's outline can be made unique by adding unusual shapes and features, these could be such things as a unique hairstyle, floating magical accessories or even such things like big odd shaped ears, antennae or unsual facial fur/ features that stick out and break up the characters outline. Or wings that stick out and make the silhouette more interesting to the veiwer. Every well known character has a distinctive outline, (Disney) mickey mouse has those big round sattelite dish ears, (Matt Groening) Bart simpson has the spikey hair and large round eyes, and (my own) Fifi has the round globes on the back of her head and those long antennae, along with a floating head.

Dont be afraid to experiment with different shapes and make your character your own, give it is own little flare!
