Sunny-Side Library by Avanii

Sunny-Side Library

Avanii

Made in 2013. One of my best digital works from that year, I think. :)

SO glad this is finished! Finally Millie gets her painting too, as Morty and Ben already have had theirs made (Morty even has two, spoiled little thing). And as Ben's painting is primarily blue and cold, and Mo's green, I wanted Millie's painting to be warm and red/orange. I think that worked out, I am happy with the colours in this :) I think Millie is on one of the window sides of Ben's library, somewhere at the top, where you have a great view over the town and where the windows (and books) get progressively smaller the higher up you go :P She's at peace there, there are many nooks and crannies to explore and still enough excitement, as the library is actually meant for humans (duh) but the upper stories are not as frequently visited, especially not this early or late, not sure if it's near sunset or sunrise, ah well. The library's probably closed at this moment.

:D It took me long enough, I know there must be 100+ things off about this but I don't care any more, I'm done with this painting :) You can still point them out though, I'm just not going back to fix things this time. There seems to be a trend where I start a painting, get about halfway, and then let it gather dust for a few months before I finish it. Really strange, but it happens all the time. Usually I get interrupted by events or other factors, but still. Need to break out of that habit. And sorry for the watermarks, I'm rather protective over pieces like this...

Hope you guys like it though! :D

Texture is my own, I love the look of it :)
Made in Photoshop CS3 with the default brushes. Wanted to know what I could do with them.

This is absolutely gorgeous! And Millie is completely precious. I really love the softness, I'm not sure how to describe it. There's something quiet about it, something undisturbed.

Thank you so much! I wanted it to have a really peaceful, almost nostalgic atmosphere. Like the childhood memory of a beautiful summer day (I drew on those memories when painting this, I'm glad it gives off that vibe) :D
