Made in April 2013, both art and original description.
Yesterday I felt like doing some traditional art, just for the sake of drawing. Not to practice anything, nor because I had an image in my head or a story to tell. I just wanted to use my markers and coloured pencils and have some fun. And I loved it :D Zosimos came out of it, because I love his colours and his markings are challenging in traditional art. I spent two hours happily slapping a wide variety of colours on top of each other and tah-dah! I actually like what came out of it :D I seriously love using Copic markers, I like the effect they give and the quickness with which you can use them. It was nice to use my fine-liners again too, after such a long time. Messy lines with much details, all sorts of colours. It made me feel good. Ah yes, Zosimos' portraits have different colour schemes: the frontal view was with warm yellow highlights and purple-ish shadows, the second one was not supposed to be warm (didn't fit the expression) so I used more muted browns, blues and pinks instead. I hope you'll like it too :aww: I just can't seem to figure out how to get the white paper white again without losing all the details of the shading :/
Copic markers, Derwent Coloursoft pencils, Pigma micron fineliners and a white gelpen on white, thick paper (no particular brand, it's nice and smooth).

Your coloring looks lovely! I agree, markings in traditional can be such a challenge but you've done a great job of maintaining them here. C:
