I originally made this piece for FWA2015 as an experiment in different designs and as a display piece. It is embroidered with the same pattern as I attempted on my other embroidery experiment and honestly I can't decide if I like the silver on green or the green on brown color scheme better. Either way it came out very distinctive on this piece.
This collar is made using a single piece of leather for the load bearing strap. No cuts were made, only folds and rivets. The parachute buckle is also exposed to the neck which is something I usually avoid doing for the wearer's comfort. The result is that this piece is much more compact that previous collars I've made. At 18" in length it's also much looser on the neck than previous collars as well.
It is lined with rabbit fur which is something I normally don't do on single strap collars but the padding under the fur has been changed to high density EVA foam and the result is outrageously comfortable even under heavy load.
I liked it so much that I decided I'd wear it as a personal piece so I stamped a tag for it. Distressed hand stamped brass hanging from a cordage to strap loop to keep leashes from tangling up with the tags.
I like this so much that I'm doing a pair of wrist cuffs and a pair of ankle cuffs to make a set. Eventually I'm going to do a harness as well, so keep an eye out for those in the future!
