This is a place to review artdoll purchases. This helps buyers make informed decisions with whom they choose to purchase from. It also is an informative avenue for other artists to read upon reviews and decide what customers are looking for and what they value so that they can incorporate these corrections or ideas into their own business model.

If you do not see an artist on here, we always encourage you to check Artist_Beware for any information. If your artist is not on AB, always do a google search to see if there is any additional info that can be acquired. Please use your best judgement on who you choose to engage in business with. If it doesn't feel right, use your gut instinct and walk away. You could save yourself hundreds of $$$ and heart ache from a bad business transaction. And if you're still not sure, drop one of us a note! we'll be happy to give our input as we may have previous experience with the person in question.

ArtDoll review guide

use this guide to write your doll purchase reviews. all submissions are moderated as we may need to request an edit or ask for a clearer explination if something doesn't sound right.

Please respect the opinions of the reviewers and the artists who have created these works. Flamers, trolls, or anyone who provokes an argument will be banned.

after you answer the reviewing questions, you will finalize your review with our rating system of a 1-5 with 1 being the lowest score and 5 being the highest.

5-no problems what-so-ever, shipping was done wonderfully, communication spectacular.
4-found one or a couple minor issue that wasn't detrimental to the overall product/transaction.
3-Many issues that was worth bringing to the attention of the artist.
2-Too many issues that left you shocked upon arrival, worth notifying the artist, may request a refund.
1-Too many issues, not pleased with the overall product and/or transaction, would not recommend.

WHEN WAS THIS DOLL MADE? <--- this MUST have a date because it matters as some dolls may be several years old and the public should know its age.

WAS THIS DOLL A PROTOTYPE? <--- prototypes typically are discounted due to flaws that the artist is working out on their new design, please mention if this was a prototype.

COMMUNICATION
-was the artist prompt, professional? easy to work with? -if this was a commission, was there a back and forth with the artist? how quick were the responses?
-if this was a pre-made, were you notified when the item was shipped and given tracking?

DID THEY MEET YOUR DEADLINE?

HOW WAS THE ART DOLL PACKAGED?
-did the artist meticulously package the doll so that it would be safe in shipment. did the artist use an appropriately sized box? did the artist use packing peanuts, bubble wrap, newspaper, etc.
-did your doll come with special instructions for unwrapping?

DID YOUR DOLL ARRIVE IN ONE PIECE?
-if your doll contained clay parts did they arrive okay? did you have to do some repairs as soon as you got it?

WAS YOUR DOLL SEWN?
-was your doll sewn together, maybe glued in specific areas that may have otherwise been to difficult to sew with machine or by hand?
-was your doll completely glued together or assembled with another material that is not a traditional means to assemble a doll.

IS YOUR DOLL FLOPPY STYLE OR ARTICULATED?
-if your doll is articulated, was it wire? is the wire sturdy, too loose or too stiff? is there any wire breaching the doll anywhere?
-was the doll's armature ball socket joint? did the jointed doll come un-damaged?
-if the doll was floppy style, were the limbs attached so that it wasn't coming apart due to heavy doll parts at the feet and hands?

STABILITY, IS YOUR DOLL STABLE?
-if your doll was meant to sit upright, does it do this effortlessly?
-if your doll is meant to stand, can it do this on its own or does it need support? (BJD is excluded as it is customary to have a stand for them or position them in a sitting style).

DOLL DETAIL
-if the hard parts are painted, is it well done? Does the paint chip?
-are the hard parts sculpted well? If they're cast were they sanded and cleaned up?

FABRIC DETAILING
-if the body had a pattern, were the details sewn on, glued on, painted on? How was the quality of these details?
-if the details are painted, how is the quality?
-is the fabric cleanly attached to the hard parts? are there un-trimmed fabric pieces? Is the fur mottled with glue?

MATERIALS
-Is the fabric used cheap? Do the fibers fall out easily?
-are the accessories picked out with care? are they attached well?
-any other materials that may have been used but not covered.
