When Once I Had Wings by arphalia

When Once I Had Wings

arphalia

India ink and ink pen on watercolor paper. 5x7 inches.

This one is basically a redraw of an older image I'd done waaaaay back in the day using my character Zenithe. Its possibly still up on VCL. The old image had a more sad feel to it but this one is happier I think. Anyways, the buildings here are wonky and I'm aware of it. I kinda failed to pay attention enough to realize this until I'd already started inking and I didn't want to just scrap the whole thing.

Mind if I post a link to your old one here: http://us-p.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Arphalia/archives-olderwork/AR-2000-Zenithe-FreeFall.jpg

"When Once I had Wings" is more that just detailed, it also has a more challenging and dynamic Perspective, more luminous colour fitting of a city nightscape, the more yet still few signs of life gives it a quiet atmosphere. The Granite of the buildings have a more realistic chipped texture. You've came a long way in the past 13 years, so you have my congratulations.

This is - hands-down - one of your greatest art pieces... and you have many, many masterpieces. But this one stands out, at least for me. The atmosphere is just great.
