Aoi has a fraternal twin sister named Yoko but the two never met because they were separated at birth by their father who worked at a secret Umbrella lab facility and wanted to experiment on them. He and his coworkers had created a new virus, known as the "F-Virus", that when injected into someone, will turn them into mutant animal creatures with human characteristics such as being able to talk and walk like a human. What happened to the twins' mother is unknown but Aoi and Yoko were immediately taken into the facility's hospital area and then put in separate rooms in a different area of the facility that was a nursery of some sort.

The twins were watched via cameras in their rooms to monitor how each twin reacts to different things such as colors, pictures, toys, etc. Their health was also checked daily and several checkups were performed. This would later determine if both daughters are healthy enough to receive the virus injection. After a few days of constant monitoring, it was clear both twins were healthy enough and their personalities were also already assumed. Aoi was a super cheerful and playful kid, while Yoko seemed disinterested in most things and seemed quite reserved. The father quickly noticed his daughters were polar opposites of each other and had a feeling Aoi would be the weak one. The friendly one. The softie.

About a week later, the twins were individually brought back to the lab where they'd receive the injection. The F-Virus is just the main base. If animal DNA, hybrid or not, is added to the base, whoever receives the virus will transform into whatever animal's DNA was added to said base. The father, whose name is also unknown as well as the mother's name, had captured this fluffy dragon creature known as a Dutch Angel Dragon. Given Aoi's personality, he thought this dragon species would fit her quite well. The F-Virus was mixed together with the DNA of the Dutchie and Aoi got injected with it. Slowly but surely, Aoi started to grow blue and yellow fur and transformed into a Dutch Angel Dragon! It looks like the new F-Virus seems to be a success! Although her dad did notice that Aoi had two different colored paw pads! The toe pads were light blue but her big middle paw pads were not only pink but HEART SHAPED!? Aoi's dad didn't quite understand how or why that happened yet, but he theorizes it may have something to do with Aoi's personality. Before he knew it, two big blue eyes were staring back at him as the very fluffy dragon bean was laying on her back. Aoi's dad chuckled a bit at the sight of his now dragon daughter. His coworkers praised him and cheered him on that he got the brand new F-Virus to work its magic! Up next, Aoi's sister Yoko also got the injection. Her F-Virus base had been mixed with DNA of a captured Eastern Dragon. Yoko also successfully transformed into a dragon and the twins got yet another checkup to see if everything was still okay with them after the transformation. Once the checkup was complete, the baby dragons were brought back to their rooms and continued to be monitored.

Once the dragons grew up, they had to eventually endure these tests where they'd fight against animals and creatures either created in the facility's lab or who have been captured so everyone at the facility could determine what skills each dragon had, who was the strongest out of the two, and what their natural fighting instinct was like so that perhaps one or both of them could become weapons or assets used by Umbrella Corporation. As predicted by her father, Aoi wasn't a very good fighter because she'd rather avoid confrontations and deep down, she was a big softie and didn't have the same natural fighting instinct as her sister, but she still tried her absolute best. During one of the battles, the poor fluffy dragon bean lost her left eye to one of the creatures sent to fight her and even left a nasty eye scar too. Despite the pain and being a lot weaker than Yoko, Aoi still managed to claim victory every time by using her instinct and skill set. It seems like she's able to breathe fire and is quite good at using her claws, especially her tail! She uses her tail like a strong whip and it has quite a bit of knock back power! Who would've thought that fluffy tails could hold such strength? She was able to fly as well using her black feathery wings. However, losing her eye made Aoi's dad very disappointed in her and decided to continue with Yoko's training while canceling Aoi's and came up with a plan to get rid of her. Very few knew of the facility's existence, but one of the people who did know was Mother Miranda, and she was often in contact with him and visited the facility a few times as well. The father knew of Miranda's search for a new vessel and that her previous vessels or rather experiments, all weren't the success she hoped for. Even though Aoi was already a creature herself, maybe she could still be a vessel for Miranda so he contacted her and told her about Aoi.

Surprisingly, Miranda was interested and wanted to have the dragon bean. The very next day, Aoi got transported to the village where Miranda would be waiting for her and arrived two days later. Miranda examined Aoi while she was still trapped in her cage and thought this was gonna be an experiment worth trying. All her previous vessels excluding the four lords were humans who either turned into lycans, died, or turned into some other freaky creature. She experimented on the four lords and ladies as well and while they survived, the extra "additions" they got from the cadou that was implemented into them made them unfit to be vessels, as she was extremely picky. Perhaps someone who's already a creature will work out instead since all the human experiments failed? Perhaps the process will be reversed in a way? That's what Miranda was thinking so she got to work and prepared Aoi for the cadou implementation surgery. A few hours later, Aoi had been sewn back up after having a successful cadou surgery. She had been placed in a resting area and after waking up slowly, she saw that there was a giant bleeding scar across her abdomen and that Miranda was there as well. To Aoi's great surprise, instead of feeling weak and exhausted from the surgery, she felt super energized by the cadou that she had no idea was implemented inside her. Then Aoi suddenly held up her paws that were restrained by the wrists and pointed her now glowing pink heart shaped paw pads at Miranda and suddenly unleashed a wave of pink flames at her, some of which were heart shaped, and knocked back Miranda against the wall. The dragon had no idea she had this cool power! It certainly wasn't present at that dreaded facility! This new power was thanks to the cadou! Aoi quickly breathed a small flame on the ropes that were restraining her wrists and immediately flew away and escaped from wherever she was being held by Miranda.

It was super cold outside and it had been snowing a lot here in this village. Aoi had no idea where she was or what to do next so she just kept flying in the air and landed once she flew across a long bridge. The snow was super cold on Aoi's paws. She had never seen snow before, let alone actually experience it. All she was familiar with was how to communicate like a person would since most of her life was nothing but being locked up in that dreaded Umbrella facility. A talking dragon. That's basically all Aoi knew about herself. She stood up on her back legs and began walking through the snow like a human would. She shivered from the cold despite being covered in fluffy warm fur, and spotted several dolls in the snow. She felt a little bit freaked out and continued walking along the path until she eventually came across a mansion. Aoi thought about knocking on the door but felt too shy and uncertain to do so, and also felt absolutely exhausted from the cold and everything she's been through so far. So instead, she decided to lay down on the rug that was laying at the front door on the porch. Aoi quickly fell asleep and little did she know that she's stumbled upon House Beneviento, where Donna Beneviento aka one of the four lords lives. As Aoi was in a deep sleep a few minutes later, Lady Beneviento slowly opened the door since she got notified by her dolls that there was some weird creature thing laying near the front door. As the woman looked down at the shivering fluffy dragon bean, she ordered her dolls to take the dragon down to her workshop. Aoi was in such a deep sleep that she didn't notice the dolls carrying her. Aoi got placed on the workshop table and Donna quickly discovered that the creature in front of her had been implemented with the cadou, just like herself and her sidekick doll, Angie. It was easy for Donna to notice what a cadou surgery scar looked like, and she also noticed that the wound looked a little infected and poorly taken care of. She grabbed a medkit and started treating the dragon bean's surgery scar that had become a little bit infected and placed a gauze over it after cleaning and disinfecting it. About an hour later, Aoi woke up and saw that she was yet again in a different location. It looked dark and scary, but she recognized the dolls on the shelves. They were exactly the same as those she found outside in the snow. Then suddenly, a woman wearing a black dress and a veil over her face appeared. The dragon bean growled a bit at the lady but Donna quickly reassured the dragon bean that she meant no harm and that it was safe here. Donna already liked the fact that Aoi was missing an eye just like herself. Finally, someone she could perhaps relate to in a way...To the woman's great surprise, the dragon started talking and communicating with her just like a person would. At least it made communicating a little easier knowing that the dragon could understand her and vice versa. Angie was also present, of course, and just like typical Angie, she was being quite mischievous and a little bit mean to Aoi but Donna told the dragon to pay Angie no mind, and the woman and dragon slowly started talking to each other. Aoi shared her story and what had happened before she came here, at least the parts she could remember, and she also told what happened once she got transported to the village, and mentioned a really scary woman with a bird mask or something along those lines, aka Mother Miranda, and how she ended up waking up restrained on a gurney shortly after with a huge surgery scar. Donna knew exactly who Aoi was talking about and even though Lady Beneviento was very loyal to Mother Miranda, she decided to keep Aoi's secret safe with her and told her that she was welcome to stay and live at House Beneviento. After all, Donna certainly didn't mind having a pet dragon, and a super fluffy one too!

A few weeks went by and Aoi and Donna quickly became the best of friends! Aoi's scar was also fully healed now, and there remained no traces of it. Lady Beneviento is a dollmaker so she's very good at sewing and made Aoi a cute little eyepatch with a dragon on it, along with clothes and accessories that were exactly to Aoi's liking! The moment that Aoi became friends with Donna, Lady Beneviento had truly earned Aoi's trust and loyalty, and promised to forever be Donna's guardian angel dragon! Even though Donna heard during the meetings with Miranda and the rest of the lords that were there that they all had orders to report to Miranda if they saw a blue and yellow dragon around the village and to bring the creature to her, Donna simply refused to say anything and kept Aoi a hidden secret because she truly developed a bond with Aoi. A very unique friend who she's never had before! While Angie continued teasing Aoi at every opportunity she got, the two soon became friends as well but with a love-hate relationship, heh heh! Months went by, and Donna's mental health really improved thanks to her sweet and kind friend, Aoi! Aoi's personality really came to light during those months, and she's nothing but a kindhearted sweetheart who is also playful, goofy, and quite a bit kidlike! A big softie! A very gentle dragon! However, Donna also noticed that Aoi could also be aggressive when necessary, especially when it came to protecting Donna and keeping her and House Beneviento safe! Lady Beneviento never mentioned Aoi to her fellow lords either just to be on the safe side but one day, when visiting Karl Heisenberg in his factory, Donna decided to open up to Karl about Aoi, since she thought she could trust him as the two often meet and talk quite a bit at the factory, just to catch up with one another, though their factory chats are usually just Karl complaining about Alcina Dimitrescu and how much she's just like a giant tree and how much of a giant pain in his rear end she is. Donna was really nervous and a little bit scared how Karl would react about Aoi but because Karl cares about Donna and how she feels more than he'd like to admit, he didn't really care and just shrugged it off. This was a huge weight off Lady Beneviento's shoulders and after talking a bit more to him, she asked if he still had those video game consoles and Resident Evil games he no longer played laying around his factory somewhere and if she could take them home for Aoi. Karl agreed and grabbed the consoles along with his Resident Evil collection and dusted everything off so Donna could take them back home with her. After a few more months, Aoi was living a wonderful life at House Beneviento and Karl kept her a secret as well, just like Donna had hoped and asked! Aoi became a big fan of Resident Evil and became a fourth wall breaker as well! Playing Resident Evil Village really helped her learn more about the surroundings and village she was in, and what kind of other creatures may be lurking around here. Aoi also got to learn more about the lords and Miranda, and what her plans were and why Aoi, Donna and the others were experimented on with this cadou thing. Apparently, she wants to revive or bring back her own daughter and wanted to use them as vessels.

In no time, Village became Aoi's favorite Resident Evil game and Donna even made her a shirt with the Umbrella Corporation logo on it! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Aoi will come to know what happened to her real mother, or that she had a fraternal twin sister named Yoko, or that her dad was a very cruel and evil Umbrella employee...Though it doesn't really seem that the past is bothering Aoi, as she's very happy and successful living with her best friend Donna, who she views as her mother, and Aoi happily claimed the Beneviento surname which really brought a big smile to Donna's face! That's right, Donna trusts Aoi so much that she doesn't mind not wearing her veil around Aoi because she is missing an eye just like her friend, and she knows Aoi will never judge her for anything! A truly unique and amazing friendship.
