Butterfly Dreams

2012
(copied from Nabyn description)

For those of you who have not been watching my Sketchbook: I have been working on a wood burning commission for a girl I work with for her mother for Mothers Day. Her mother is a quilter and self titles her work as Butterfly Dreams. After stopping by my table at one of my wood carving shows, she really liked what she saw and had wanted to commission me for something in the future on what my interpretation of what Butterfly Dreams means to me.

After talking with my friend we came up with the idea of doing a miniature wooden quilt with the theme of Butterfly Dreams. My talented grandfather made a beautiful frame for the wooden squares to sit in so it was up to me to finish the rest!

I am pretty happy with this =) However...her hair did not scan well because it is VERY texturized so you are seeing highlights from the scorched grooves.

I can't wait to find out how my friends mother reacts when she finally gets this =D

This is wood burning, all tones and shading was done using a heated, wood burning tool, any color added is as follows....
Watercolor Pencils used: Orange, Yellow, Red, and various Blues. Some white for the spots on the butterflies.
Gel pens used: Blue stardust, Clear stardust
