I actually painted something without lineart 8U It was good practice! Totally trying to make it awesome looking like Bastek/Ssirrus does, probably failed.

Ah man that means a lot, really! I adore Bastek's stuff, I have since I was like 14 years old and I first saw her. She's one of the only artists I have ever wanted to be like, if that sounds safe to say, I don't mean to copy her or take her techniques but I always thought of her and Pac being the two artists that I wish I could draw like ;_; (and fabercastel but I dunno if he's around much anymore)
I admittedly got a bit lazy with the background, I don't think he really paid for it so I was kinda just hacking it in to give it the right effect :O But I am glad it came out decent! I'd like to try and do more lineless painting, I have done it a couple more times since this, but it just takes so damn long and I feel like I don't know what the heck I am doing during the entire process. But thank you for the compliment, and the encouraging words!

I still hope to get another piece from you some time early next year or so; utterly and totally love this piece ever since ya' did it. :)
And they're right, this piece really does capture a lot of the essence of what makes Bastek's work so awesome. :D It was a totally awesome surprise to have it end up like this. =^.^=

Oh bah, with how LJ petered out, and DreamWidth (while really well run by comparison) just never took off with everyone using Twitter and the like these days?
Honestly I couldn't be happier with how things turned out in the end. And it's one of the reasons I set such generous half-decade time limits on art commissions up front so often: Beautiful happenstance can occur when things aren't rushed. =^.^=

I totally got a Bastek vibe from this before even reading the description so you're doin it rite :) I love the surreal atmosphere you've created here with the giant crystals and aurora in the background, and the lighting on the character is great too. The fur almost has a UV/black lighting effect without being overbearing or seeming out of place. I'd love to see more like this. Your linework is always really fantastic, but you are way more skilled at lineless painting than you give yourself credit for!
