Legacy was born into freedom, but before he turned five, he, along with his mother, was captured. Originally from a small village north of Di'aru, the two were sold to a slaver in Ametiton.

His mother died when he was twelve.

When he was thirteen, the delphin who had become his surrogate father figure, Jerome, began training him as a Guardian. When he was eighteen, a visit from one of the other slaver families, the Sinisusi, set him to decide on freeing both himself and the lavender delphin that followed the older nephew.

Before his training was completed, the slave revolts began. Their master, thinking the Golden Guard a better nest egg, escaped to Di'aru.
