This actually started out as just a random sketch that I decided to colour to fill in time between other stuff and then it kind of . . . turned into this big picture with a full background and everything. A lot of my stuff seems to happen that way, now that I think of it. I draw some rough sketch and it ends up as a major thing, but if I set out to do a big epic picture from the start it never quite turns out that way. Perhaps my planning skills need work.
Also, this started with lineart but along the way I decided that the lines kind of intruded on the atmosphere so I took them out and then spent ages having to redo parts of the colouring to make it work in lineless style. I'm still not completely happy with how that turned out (particularly on his face, which looks really weird) but considering I don't have a huge amount of experience with lineless stuff, I guess it was good practice. Will I try it more often? Perhaps when I'm feeling adventurous. Which despite my username actually isn't very often, so don't expect much.
