"Character Portrait Challenge" I ~Faerie ladies~

Sparkyopteryx

These two pages are things I've been working with off and on over the past couple of months; it's part of a new "personal challenge" to finally draw the faces associated with all of my characters, because I realized a while back I have over fourty viable and fully realized headworms and only a tiny fraction of them have been drawn recently (many of them haven't been drawn at all) and I've found it makes me more inclined to want to draw them fully, as well as work on my story settings. These are also a fun exercise between other projects. I'll be doing them all in color and in various media to keep my skills sharp in case of art block.

Also I figured with all these names I casually throw around in my personal submissions, it might get a little confusing as to what kind of face these names might be attached to. I'm going to give forewarning and say that these submissions will have some character and/or headworld blather for those out there that have expressed interest in knowing about them. I'll be starting with more of the visually "neglected" ones; the characters I've drawn so rarely or not at all.

~~ Aldawenye at the top left is a fairly old character (going on five years from creation I believe). I actually recently finished an old sketch of her as a direct result of creating this portrait. Nettie in the top right is my saucy spider fae lady with a penchant for gossip, a preeminent seamstress and also romantically involved with an aughisky underworld player as well as her business partner, Eve.

The two ladies at bottom belong to my "Uncanny Hosts" setting (same as Nettie). The exotic plant-thing Fennia at right, along with her male counterpart Seraca, are a creation of the crime lord and mad scientist Lady Absinthe to help her with her expansive garden's "pest problem." ("Goodness, the hedge goblins are thick as flies this year!"). She looks pretty but that's what she wants you to think; she'd be more than happy to devour you if you got close enough. Lily at bottom left is Absinthe and Mister Midnight's only daughter; being a strange cross between a night spirit and unicorn, Lily is endlessly energetic and childlike and will probably be so for most of her life, since she does not age normally .~~

Each portrait was done with a different set of media and techniques on heavyweight 9x12 sketch paper. Naturally all characters and concepts are my intellectual property. Thank you for putting up with my silly character dissertations; now I just need to figure out which ones I'll do for my next set. Any suggestions?

I'm not entirely certain what to say that I haven't already, so I will re-iterate that they are all cute and/or adorable. They all needed some representation and I'm glad to see it.
