Study Dump 1 by Deriaz

Study Dump 1

Deriaz

A collection of studies you may or may not have seen. Time taken on these varies from piece to piece.

Column 1: A Craig Mullins study. Another Craig Mullins study, grander and a little more involved than the first. A Remigius van Haanen master painting study that was used as a starting point in the Anubis painting.

Column 2: A low light study of a "Year of the Snake" statue I own. Landscape grayscale study from Noah Bradley's Iceland photo collection. Landscape grayscale study from Noah Bradley's American Southwest photo collection.

Goals: Mark-making, and a bit of color/lighting. Learned a bit about how brushes work, mostly in the Dual Brush category, and how to reshape them to help with making shapes and form.

Gosh...I like them all, they all have great details. But I think my favorites are the bottom pieces of each column.

The one on the left I like because it feels like a background on the cover of a fantasy book. The one on the right...I really love the solid B&W contrast of light and shadow! :)
