Opinions on Fur the More, MFF, and FWA? Other cons? by SpartaDog

I'm looking into other cons I can go to, since most of the ones I do now are fairly small. Which isn't bad! I love small cons. Much greater sense of community and more drive to meet new people.

But yeah, I'd like to diversify a little more. Previously I thought my limit would be ~4 hour drive, but after driving ~10 hours to AC, I think I can go a little farther. Not sure what my limit is yet, but I'll figure that out.

So, some conventions I've been looking at are as follows. If you've had any experience (especially dealer experience) you'd like to share, please do!

  • Fur the More (Virginia)
  • Midwest Fur Fest (Chicago I think?)
  • Furry Weekend Atlanta (Georgia)
  • Furrycon (New York)
  • Fursonacon (Virginia; first year con next year but i haven't heard much about it so if you have let me know)

If you have any others you can recommend, please let me know! I live in south-central Jersey, for reference, and I already do FAU, Furpocalypse, and Anthro New England.

Some topics I'm especially interested in:

  • How are sales?
  • Is the dealer room well-organized?
  • Do I need a state tax license or do they do the receipt/cashout thing?
  • How are the hotel staff and non-furry citizens? Are they receptive to furries? How about LGBTQ people?
  • Is the surrounding area easy to navigate?

I think that's everything...

Thank you!

I don't know about the others, but I've gone to MFF the last two years, and it's been enjoyable enough I've added it to my "must go to" yearly list. The others are Furcon and BLFC.
