A while back I was playing with ideas for a group project relating to the furry fandom. Because being a furry means so many things to so many people there don't seem to be many things that are universally agreed upon, I wanted to do something about norms within the fandom. The purpose of this project quickly became generating a written set of norms within the fandom. So far, this list of norms includes a definition of fursonas, their creation process, sparkle-dog avoidance, normal commissioning practices, and other topics. It is not complete, by any means, but at this point I feel comfortable releasing a version 1.0 of this document. I'm curious as to what people think. Also, I'd like to say that I'm open to requests to collaborate on a version 2.0. Feel free to comment if you're interested.

If they are not universally agreed on, perhaps they are not actually norms? I mean, some people like sparkledogs . . .
I really like it, so far. I think it's a really good document for people to be introduced to the fandom.
Yeah, a lot of that information is perticularly useful to people new to the fandom. Other bits, like good role play groups and normal practices for payment on commissions are useful to people who have been here a while.
I now know what a "sparkle dog" is...I honestly never knew before, though I've heard lots of people use the term. I'd probably be a "part-time fur" by the way most people look at the fandom.
But I still love the whole fandom...the art, the love and creativity. There's a lot that other fandoms could find in the furry community that would be beneficial!
