Team Retainment: What's, Hows, and Player Vote by FHL

Before I begin as a reminder, the Off-Season Experince Spending time is upon people. If you want to better your player the way you want, check the info here: https://www.weasyl.com/journal/54449/fhl-off-season-exp-spending-rules-and-retirements and follow the steps.

Team Retainment: What it is and How it works

For the GMs that have been with us in earlier seasons, this is mostly a refresher, but for the new GMs here's a go over of Player Retainment for Teams for the next season and how it works with the Veteran's Draft:

As a way to mix up the teams from season to season, and as a way to keep a level of Parity in the league, during the off-season the FHL follows a policy of limited player retainment for teams within the league. This means that in the time building up to the next season's Draft(Veteran's Draft as of Season 3) teams must select a limited number of players to which to retain for the next season.

Those who are not retained, are sent to the Veteran's draft, and are open for to be drafted by any team during it(including their former team).

As for how a team denotes who they are keeping for the next season, teams must simply highlight the players on their Season 3 Master Sheet rosters that they wish to retain for the upcoming season, up to the limit allowed for retainment for each team. The players that are highlighted at the time of a week before the Veteran's Draft, will be retained for Season 4.

Player Vote: Team Retainment Numbers

As the off-season of Season 3 was approaching, a situation was brought up by a couple of the GMs and Assistant GMs on the chat. The situation was that while the number of players to retain we're a good amount for the smaller rosters of Seasons 1 and 2(which was 4), the expansion of rosters in Season 3 would lead to far more players ending up in the draft, than being retained by the teams. Thus, the suggestion of expanding the player limit has been put on the table with 3 options: 4(Status Quo), 6, and 8

Shown below are what numbers would be retained and be on the draft list for each limit(Based on current veteran player numbers of 198 players(Skaters and Goalies))

Limit 4
Players Retained: 64
Players sent to draft: 133
Draft Rounds: 8(plus 5 free agents)

Limit 6
Players Retained: 96
Players sent to draft: 102
Draft Rounds: 6(plus 5 free agents)

Limit 8
Players Retained: 128
Players Sent to draft: 70
Draft Rounds: 4(plus 5 free agents)

With those numbers in mind, the vote is to you the players. In a comment below, put down a vote for 4, 6 or 8. Voting will close on Friday June 13th.
