FHL Off-Season: Exp Spending, Rules and Retirements by FHL

Welcome all to the Off-Season for Season 3. I hope you all enjoyed this season, and will join us again for exciting season of the Furry Hockey League in the fall, if not also join :iconBeauregards:'s upcoming World Tournament this summer! With that note, here are some upcoming events in the break point between the cup and next season's draft:

EXP Spending

Of course the biggest thing in the off season people wait for is putting all thoes hard earned experience and growth points to use. Well now is the time. From now until the opening day of the draft(which is slated to be the second week of August), players may spend their EXP following the chart below:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AqBGtKfQtCaddHdlRzdBei1jZW1sWTczTWRjV2NlUmc&output=html

There is one correction to it. It was decided at the end of the season that it should be easier for rookies to get their foot in the door entering into their second season and for thoes that haven't had the greatest luck when it comes to stars and achievements to get a little boost. Thus, from now on the first 4 Growth Points a player purchases have a cost of 500 XP instead of 1000 XP

To see how much experience you have look up the chart below, searching by name:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvbltwM7NK-3dHdWYmkyQ191OWVJMmd2RGpzSW5xWUE&usp=drive_web#gid=0

For thoes that are wondering about the exp rewards:

Growth Points are points that can be used to add points to your base stats(the stats used when you were building your character). Each growth point adds +1 to a base stat, which many a time with affect multiple calculated stats at once. They are a cheap way to build on several areas of a character at once.

How each base stat affects your calculated stats can be found here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AvbltwM7NK-3dGE4VGFWWS1nOE5MNkdEc2kwR3ZCUUE&single=true&gid=2&output=html

Take the number listed for the based/calc and divide it by the div by for the calculated stat to see level of improvement)

Perks are a mix of affects or boosts to calculated stats that usually have a stronger affect than growth points on a player. However, that effect of course comes with a higher cost, and no perk can be purchased more than once.

Players also have the option of requesting to hold onto their experience points until a later date, although that may risk that your player will see no improvement going into the next season.

To submit EXP spending, send a note to the FHL box, detailing your spending, for example:

2000 EXP: 4 GP: +2 SPD, +1 SHP, +1 FO
3000 EXP: Slyness Perk.

Once we have gotten to it, we will record the spending on the EXP Spending chart, and deduct the points from your character, setting him up for next season. This does not mean however you can't earn extra experience through the off-season by contributing through ways above.

Please also note that due to a need to make team improvements, we ask that all players please submit a spending list or at least a request to withhold EXP by June, 30th. Failuer to do so will force us to convert all available EXP to GP, and your players spending will be in the hands of his GM.

GM: Please contact players in the meantime and make sure they see this journal, and know about this spending.

Achievement Reporting

As noted during the season, the Achievement Pages that were started Mid-Season of Season 2 were active and available for use for Growth Points in Season 3. To report a teams or player's achievement page, please submit it to the note box of the :iconFHL: and we will look over them and add any GP earned during the season to your player's Achievement GP space on the EXP Expenditures chart. Please note that we will be checking game summaries when we are going through this.

If at any time a player wishes to exchange Achievement GP for EXP, please note the FHL or contact a commissioner, and we will allow you to exchange them for equivalent EXP. Please also note that Achievement GP does count against the EXP discount for Rookies.

Retiring and Re-Rookieing

With the opening of EXP Spending, so to is the opening of Off-Season Retirements.

At this current time, these players are known to be retiring from play this offseason

DEMIDOV, Igor(STL)
PETERSSON, Bjore(HTC)
PEHLTONEN, Hari(TBP)

if anyone wishes to retire a player from the league, please leave a comment below, or send us a note at :iconFHL: by the first week of August. Failure to do so will mean that the player will be forced to stay on for the entirety of Season 4, and will be then retired at the end of the season.

Also, if any person wishes to start over, and create a new player, they must first retire their older player from the league, as to follow current Primary/Secondary league rules.

Rules Voting/Rules Discussions

At the current time, there are three areas of discussion of the rules this off-season

1)Team Retainment Capacities: On Monday, there will be a Player Vote being posted for an expansion of how many players a team will retain during the off-season, due to the expansion of team sizes with the move to three lines at the beginning of the season.

2)"Focus Ninjaing Solutions": Due to the amount of Stress that was created having to do with teams changing focuses at the last minute at deadlines, the Commissioners are currently discussing solutions to the problem for Season 4. Expect a journal on the subject and possibly a player vote later this month.

3)Rules Review: So as to have a clean set of rules together for Season 4, we will be proofing a set and posting it for review either late this month or in early july. Questions and Comments on it as always welcome.

With that, good luck to everybody, and may your off-season be plentiful!
