I seem to have made it a habit of staying up until 3-4am, oops.

BUT ANYWAY, I HAVE EXCITING NEWS!

I signed the adoption papers on a handsome kitty Monday night! He'll be moving in on Saturday. I am SO EXCITED. <333 David and I have been looking for a pet for a few months now, to help with my emotional issues and become sort of an ESA. He had really wanted to get a dog— hell, I'd been pestering him for a certain dog from Heavenly Creatures since before Christmas— but ultimately we accepted that are house isn't big enough for a dog.

It is, however, a great spot for a cat!

So we went poking around at the SPCA, Heavenly Creatures, etc., looking for a cat. After a while, I was over to PetSmart picking up filter cartridges for my Triops' aquarium filter when we noticed that the cat adoption center inside the store had lowered their adoption fees. Dave picked up an application for a cat named Allie, but by the time we got home, filled it out, got the info we needed from our landlady, etc., another family had been approved for her. I was pretty bummed out!

Then one of my old coworkers from a previous job messaged me on Facebook last week asking if I was still looking for a cat. She's a foster mom for a rescue group called Pleas for Paws, and was looking for a forever home for a young (about a year and a half old at most) longhaired boy named Jax. We bounced messages back and forth, I talked to Dave, and then 8pm Monday night we were on her doorstep to visit Jax for the first time.

By 9pm the adoption papers were signed. I was in love with him instantly.

He's one of the most cuddly mama's-boy cats I have EVER seen. He was scared of me and Dave at first, but he warmed up very quickly and was cuddling into our arms and accepting treats in no time. He's perfect. <3

This is my first cat to actually, 100% belong to me, so I'm really, REALLY excited about it. His foster-mom has been sending me pictures of him for the past week— his coat is still really short where he' been shaved down due to severe matting shortly after his rescue back in late February, but the photos I've seen of his full coat... He's going to be a VERY handsome boy. <3 I'll be brushing him daily (which thankfully, he doesn't mind— according to his foster he's very well behaved during brushings, but gets bored pretty quick and starts trying to play with the brush, haha).

I have tomorrow off from work so I'll be spending the day doing a massive cleaning of the house, then when I get paid Thursday I'll be heading out to various shops to pick up food, bowls, a litter pan, toys, etc. I've been looking at custom cat collars on Etsy, too. <3 Though he'll be strictly an indoor cat.

So not only is the big sci-fi convention this weekend, but I'm also getting my very own gorgeous cat. <3

Best weekend ever? BEST. WEEKEND. EVER. So pumped!!
