Username Swap by Hyprole

I managed to get my username swapped with my old account (StarshipHyprole has become Hyprole)
so
I will be staying on this account after all - the one that's posting this journal entry

Just in case there's any confusion over who this is. So nobody has to refollow or unfollow after all - unless you want to - and I don't have to repost or refollow everything.
Thanks to the weasyl staff - they were much faster than I expected. :)

They sure seem to be o3o

'tis above my powers, but I'm glad to hear of your good experience with Weasyl administration!

I think it was the director kihari that did it. But I thought it would take a day to get a reply at least, not a couple of hours. Which is good! :D

do you know how to do that for an FA account y any chance? Im trying to change my name to my old one

    • Link

No way this can happen on FA, they can't even fix big things most of the time, let alone individual usernames. But honestly I'm not sure, just don't think it's likely.

      • Link

its hard even getting them to reply to a trouble ticket half the time

    • Link

No idea sorry... the only thing you could do is ask the staff but I've never been aware of anyone swapping names on FA - only making new account names and moving everything over. :/

thank you for letting me know just the same

    Awesome :D

hehe it's really cool that you can do that here :3

Yeah! I'm not sure if I like the way it is on tumblr (and on DA for subscribers) where anyone can chance their username any time and sometimes you see a name and aren't even sure who it is but the way it is organised here - with the option to do it but only when it's really needed - makes a lot of sense.

          heh yesssss ._.
I really don't like it when people on tumblr change both their username and icon at the same time. When people do that I tend to unfollow them if I can't figure out who they are.

As for dA... pfeh like I'm gunna pay to just change my username - they already get money from virus-ridden adverts (hooray for adblocker). And since I don't think I'd use any of their premium add-ons I'd rather just create a new account. :P

Weasyl seems to have gotten it right so far. Maybe they won't be so fast when the userbase grows but they'll likely find a way to work around that.

Yeaaah! I am subscribed on DA but mostly because I use their portfolio domain (it was before tumblr though, really having doubts about buying another subscription when my current one runs out).

            • Link

ahh I never used their portfolio thing... I always thought that was free though. O_o I get the impression that deviantart isn't always the best option for professionals - but I don't know how the portfolio part of it works though.

There are a lot of professionals on dA which is cool but I have noticed a surge of people from the animation industry joining tumblr recently... and a lot of people use blogspot too (it's just harder to search and find new people there). So many places to choose from x)

              • Link

The nice thing about the portfolio part is that it's easy to edit and it's not connected to the main account from the outside - I'd rather not link clients to my DA considering that people who are not internet-savvy get easily lost there.

I use tumblr and occasionally look at blogspot but I don't like scrolly dashboard type of places much - very easy to miss things unless you browse it daily. With DA I can not check it for a while but all the art I like will still end up sorted in my inbox.

I'm happy to see it worked out well!
