Just been thinking. Throughout my life, I've always considered myself a die hard Disney fan. Hell, I've called myself The Disney Nerd on multiple occassions. I love Disney and all the movies they bring joy. Well, the good ones that is. But, even though I'm a fan. It's been a very long time since I've watch The Disney Channel as a whole. :/

What brought me to this thought is when I just read the box office results of last weekend. I hadn't been able to look at it when I got to work on Monday since my focus was work. shrugs And this surprised me. Divergent beat Muppets Most Wanted for the #1 spot in the box office. Divergent was panned by critics and everybody thinks it's a Twilight clone while everybody liked the new Muppets movie and the critics praised it. But, somehow, Divergent beat Muppets Most Wanted. A Twilight clone beat The Muppets. O.O

Knowing Disney, they see this as a failure of some sort. They'll probably put off The Muppets for a bit and fire the writers since the movie wasn't as successful as they hoped it would be. And take this experience into thinking of making Twilight clones as well. God I hope not. It was bad enough to just sit back and watch as Disney just sold themselves out for an entire decade trying to appease to the preteens of tween musicals, tween comedy shows, and so much made for TV movies. It was hard for me as a Disney fan just watching the company just putting in those things and mark them as family friendly entertainment. Ugh.

And I just realized this. That was when I stopped watching The Disney Channel. Around 2004-2005. For those very reasons. I had took a peak at The Disney Channel once or twice. When seeing that they are finally, after such a long time, showing Disney movies that actually were once on the big screen. And seeing their commercials for their current shows for the channel itself and such. It seems The Disney Channel hasn't improved much. No cartoon shows at all. I'm still a Disney fan, but I guess I'll just stick with their theme parks and movies instead of their TV shows. Since the TV shows they had before 2000, was the best they had created. Maybe one day they'll create better shows for TV sometime in the future. :/
