A question to you guys about me submitting concepts. by Sparkyopteryx

So, I've asked vaguely similar questions like this in the past, but this query is more regarding all concepts and sketches, even the ones that haven't been "prettified" into references. Besides, I have a lot more varied followers now than I used to, so I'd simply like to know...

Should I post most all of my concept and developmental work, even if it's kind of...rough? They'd mostly be compilations of all of the development process for creatures, races and my characters, and eventually more environmental and cultural stuff for my setting, so a lot of it would definitely be unpolished and possibly look somewhat cobbled-together. When I first opened up my Weasyl back in 2012 I limited most everything in this gallery to polished pieces, which I've since gradually expanded on. I do have a sketchblog on Tumblr, but that place is making me leery and therefore keeping me from posting more sketches on there, and honestly I like the community here about ten times more, so I'm more inclined to post most all of my stuff here anyway.

I'm asking this because I've been messing around with more of this kind of stuff between other obligations a lot lately, but I'm not sure whether they're "quality" enough, even though being concept art they aren't supposed to be fancy. If you guys really do want to see all of my stuff regardless of how polished it is, I was going to add some new folders regarding my headworld setting, so they'd be separated into "General design work" and "13 Continent setting design work," with a possible third folder for my graphic novel project as well. I'd genuinely want you guys to be able to see most of my work, since I know some of you don't use Tumblr (I'm getting second thoughts myself) and because FA is no longer my "go-to" gallery.

As a somewhat unrelated note, that one day commission special was a huge bust, so I won't be doing something like that ever again, and stick with monthly "themes" instead and just keep everything nice and open for everyone. If I can get my last projects done in a timely matter, I'll be doing a new commission special in mid-April (Art Noveau pin-ups!) so if this sounds interesting, stay tuned.

A question to you guys about me submitting concepts.

Yes please. Concept and Wips are always interesting to me.

Excellent! I simply ask because I know there are some that don't always like design work and stuff like that "cluttering" up their inbox. I do an awful lot of concepts though, so my gallery looks a little sparse if I don't post any of it.

I've never had a problem seeing sketchier stuff. If anything, I find things like sketch pages more interesting than a lot of finished pieces. Watching the process and ideas is cool!

Yeah, I've always found the creative process of other artists and writers to be as infinitely interesting as the product that comes of it. The cream only rises to the top after 20 scrapped ideas, after all. Thank you very much for your input!

Do I get to comment? I mean I already see the concepts in-progress more than anyone...

My answer is go right ahead, by the way.

I say yes, I'd love to see more of your work, rough or not :]
