SKETCHSTRAVAGANZA AND ADVICE REQUEST: 100 Followers givaway! + Queen City Kamikaze (ADVICE NEEDED)! by Phantastus

Hey guys!

A couple days ago I officially reached the 100-watcher mark-- wow! Thank you all so much, whether you followed me on FA or found me for the first time! In celebration, since I'm in major Art Mode right now, I thought I'd do a little givaway. Anyone who comments to this post before midnight with a little blurb about how you found me/why you followed (I'm always curious about that!) as well as a character will get a little sketch!

(RULES: nothing NSFW please, I don't mind raunchy critters but I'd rather avoid drawing giant throbbing dragon weiners. Also, the nature of the sketch is at my discretion-- this is purely for fun, so if I decide to add a little color to a sketch or two but yours is still just a sketch, it doesn't mean I hate you! Just that I got a hankering for color while I was doing the other one.)

I'll be doing these between working on art for the upcoming Queen City Kamikaze-- a little 1-day convention in Nashua, NH! It's my very first time running a table (something I've been advised to do by a lot of professionals in the animation field) and I'd love some advice from any other artists who have done that song and dance before! Does anyone have recommendations for services to get business cards or small prints from?

SPEAKING OF PRINTS THO:

Here is a test print of "Life and Death"! It'll be selling at the convention for $40.00! But if I have any extra, I wouldn't be opposed to taking orders.

I'm super excited about how great it looks in person, omg.

To be completely honest, I'm pretty sure I followed you over from FA. I really can't be sure what picture I first saw that made me watch you, but running through your gallery again, I'm pretty sure it was something along the lines of False Blackbird. A little cartoony, a little twisted, and not something I see others doing. Definitely valuable. :D

Very cool of you to offer up the sketches, as well! I might as well pass along this guy for a doodle. Whatever you do, have fun with him!

And here's hoping for plenty more followers to come your way!

Oh, and durp, totally forgot: congrats on hitting 100!

In that case, welcome, welcome! Various degrees of cartoony and twisted seems to be what I do best, haha! Thank you very much-- False Blackbird is sort of my current art darling so I'm really happy when people like her!

Link noted, I'll try to have fun! :)

I think I found you on FA (or possibly saw your art on tumblr and went to FA because it's hard to follow art on tumblr - I keep missing stuff unless I'm there daily and I don't have the time or patience for that)! I just your art - both visually and how you interpret things, stories you tell. Even your fanart feels personal (though I'm not really familiar with Silent Hill).

As for characters, is it okay if leave you an option to pick one? I have a lot of characters and it seems a bit unreasonable to rope people into drawing someone they won't like instead of a character they'd find fun to draw. But if I have to pick a character then uh, this guy.

Oh man, yeah, Tumblr is honestly pretty hard to keep track of. There's a lot of wonderful artists on there that I don't actually follow because my dashboard is super clogged as it is. I'm a little compulsive about keeping track of things so I'm one of those weirdos who browses all the way back to where I left off the previous day for fear of missing something, and it wastes so much time.

But in any case, wow, thank you! That's fantastic to hear (and I worry frequently that the amount of fanart I do might put people off, it's good to know that my Silent Hill art is still enjoyable regardless!) and I'm honored to have your watch. :)

I DON'T MIND HAVING A CHOICE AT ALL oh my goodness your characters are so charming!

Awww, thanks a ton! :D Ahaha, this is going to be one of those awkward situations when two artists like each other's art and an infinite loop of admiration happens.

Also I used to do the same thing with tumblr but it wasn't doing me any good so now I try to walk away from tumblr from time to time. And then I return and spend hours on it. :P

COMMENCE THE AWKWARD ARTIST ADMIRATION DANCE

But yeah, Tumblr is a spectacular time-waster. HOWELL.

I never saw you on FA - I believe I found you off the front page on here. :> In fact, I'm fairly certain it was when you were posting some of your old pokemon stuff, and I got really excited that you drew slightly odd but wonderful humans along with them. I usually don't see that - it's usually anime or 'perfect'/idealized humans. So I REALLY appreciated that!

I always adore drawings of Masha, the character, as opposed to the 'sona. Thank you so much, if you decide to do her. <3 jmynhtbgrf

Sadly I have no advice: re a table. I've been pondering it myself, but I don't feel I'm 'ready' for that. BEST OF LUCK!

Aw, thank you very much! I agree, I always really enjoy seeing unique human styles around-- although I've never thought of mine as particularly original, haha. STILL, I'm really glad that you enjoy it- for the longest time I only drew animals because people were hard, but I've really come to enjoy drawing them.

But yes, I'm gonna try and do a sketch for everybody who comments! And may I just say WHAT A NEAT CHARACTER! Can't wait to draw her, she looks adorable!

I'm hoping the con experience will go smoothly-- I worry that if I don't start now, I never will, haha. I'll be sure to report back with my experiences. :)

Congratulations on hitting 100! <3 One of many milestones I'm sure. n_n

I found here here on the from page with this submission right here! >> Le Click

    I found that it was really nicely done was a nice story telling piece even without reading the description. I really admired the expressions and soft coloring which lead me to your gallery! I really like your expressions and overall how your pieces tell a story. ;w;

As for buisness cards, I usually use Overnightprints.com when I go to places like CTNX and stuff where I'll be dealing with professionals. Cheap and fast! Not sure about larger prints thought. But best of luck!

Haha, here's hoping! Thank you! c: Especially about the colors and storytelling-- those are things I've always really strived to get across in my art so it's great to hear that people like it!

And thanks for the recommendation, too-- I'm gonna need to be doing business cards before the convention as well so I'll definitely check that out!

I don't actually remember how I found you, but I followed you because I loved your artwork (and the James Sunderland rat sealed the deal, which reminds me, why is that not in my favorites??)

As for characters, well, I got Stoker. He's a bat. He likes spooky things. His face is my icon. I have refs ranging from completely SFW to very, very not. I'll sift through them for a few choice faves if I get picked, and if I do, I'll probably want something creepy. 8D

And good luck with the table! I've always wanted to sell at a con myself. Perhaps some day!

i first saw your name on tumblr, you followed me, a long time ago. my friend said i should make a weasyl and you were the first person to follow me. i recognized the name and realized you were with me on tumblr all along! i felt so foolish that i never looked into you more because your art is wonderful! it's cool to find awesome people just around the corner. uwu

    • Link

Oh hey! Yeah, I stumbled across your Silent Hill art ages ago and watched you. I tend to be fairly quiet on Tumblr so apologies for not making myself known before now, haha! But man, thank you, that's an honor to hear, from you! c:

I saw your art on the front page of Weasyl and loved it, so I went looking around your gallery and loved it all! ^^ I've never really looked around on FA, so I've never seen any of your work on there.
Congrats on 100! ;u; This is such a small site still, that's quite an awesome accomplishment! :3
    It'd be awesome if you doodled my sona, Zaivinx ;u;
Also here's this ref since her "hair" is a bit odd in the one above

Thank you! That's great to hear! I'm really hoping the site takes off, hopefully everybody will be active. This seems like a much nicer environment than FurAffinity overall.

Well, it's no big secret, I followed you because you're my friend! But I also enjoy looking at your arts, and I also enjoy being able to get little glimpses at your process! You don't need to draw a thing for me, but if you want to, here's http://spacefriends.wikia.com/wiki/Drestal Drestal I guess!
