"I just wanted to let you all know that I'd prefer to keep the friends thing to...well, my friends and people I know well. Friends take time to make, as I'm sure you understand, and I'm afraid I don't know some of you very well.
Please don't take this personally, it's nothing against you and it doesn't mean I don't like you. I'm more than happy to get to know you all better though.
I do hope you all understand. :)"

I completely agree with you, it's something that takes a lot of time and also effort. It's good to see people who still understand this.
Seems like people want to be friends with EVERYONE or at least with anybody who says hi to them, it just doesn't make any sense xP-
I've dealt with my fair share of those "instant friend" types lol. And have become cautious since a lot of people just wanted to be friends because of my art/to get free art. ^^;

Yeah, it's unfortunate that some people want something from you (may it be art or other things) and not just to be a good friend.
You make friends to have people to hang out with and/or turn to, not to get free stuff x)

Sensible enough! I understand the point of having a separate friends category, but the instant I saw it I recognized how much of an annoyance some people will be about it. =/

i've been keeping it to people I had friended on LJ or people I've known well over the years on the various sites I've frequented. I may cross post from lj to here as it has a friends only option, which is really nice.

That`s very sensible. I will still gladly make internet friends, but I have learned to be more suspicious. I have had about two of them to turn on me.

I feel kind of weird adding people I don't personally know to my friends list. And I keep accidentally clicking the Friend button instead of following people and it's awkward. Haha.
