Weasyling For 14 Months by Spyn

After the devastating outage of FA, I realized I'd long been neglecting my Weasyl account I signed up for a little over a year ago. Even as FA was down, I neglected this account-- watching from the dark recesses of my forested homeland (Twitter). One by one, FA users migrated forth to the new land of Weasyl.

Now FA is back up and many are willing to settle back into their old routines of horribly drawn Lola bunnies and angsty aliens.

I am not so enamored. I think I am going to follow suit with some of my fellow artists and art appreciators and make this my primary account. Hell, even if you're here just to network and grow within the community, it's a better place to start than on FA at this point in time.

I haven't decided if I am going to cross post my FA gallery. If I do, it will be in bits and pieces. I am still debating on whether I want to use the tool to copy my watch list from FA. Part of me is curious as to who came this way, and another wants to rediscover people on my own. I may change my mind later...since I'm fickle like that.

At the moment I like that this site feels a hell of a lot smaller than FA and more intimate on the level that you can get to know your fellow artists and patrons. I am going to wait before potentially slamming my inbox full of too much information to process at once. I am gonna keep the flow steady! WHOOOO.

I hope others are as ready as I am to interact with each other and help this site grow in ways FA has not been able to.

PROGRESSION, FRIENDS! :D

    Yeah, I have yet to discover a single thing that Weasyl doesn't do better than FA, and this is from the standpoint of someone who doesn't even draw. Seems like Weasyl was effortlessly able to integrate features that FA promised but never delivered years later, which is telling how truly lazy the FA staff is.

    Rest assured, I'll be keeping up with your postings on both sites. :3

      This is all really excellent to hear! I am not sure if you've been sharing your praise via FA, but I hope that you are! It's so easy for those who are used to their furry routine to continue using the same site despite multiple promises and no follow-through. I think that the more people focus on this site, the more people will realize that it's better for everyone, and not just artists. <3 I am happy to have your watch on both sites!

    Ahhhhh I am so happy others are doing this too!

      Same! It's a bit late for journal posting on FA (who am I kidding!?-the furries are always active there!) but I intend on making a blip there about this site too. I mean...I joined when they opened registration a year ago, but it really has superior coding and I can see a few other artsy friends making the same move, so I'd like to support that movement!. <3

        Yeah I have tried to mention it as much as possible but until the recent outage I didn't start getting much traffic over here. I have been attempting to actively update my gallery at least every couple months when I remember. (Or my buddy Inaki reminds me hahahhaa.) We all just need to chip in to get things rollin' more! :D

    FA traffic has died a bit for me, actually. I think many are now making weasyl their main. I hope to as well as I want it to grow. Love it here.

      To be honest, I used the time to hiatus for Holiday purposes and watched the great migration through twitter. I enjoyed Weasyl's features from the get-go and it was kinda sad to watch the community fizzle out. I am really hoping that by cutting the numbers down from the start it might encourage more interaction between users. I am sure there will be die-hard FA only furries out there who won't make the jump or the effort to run two accounts...but it'll be their loss/our gain. I don't mind maintaining two accounts. :}

        I maintain at least 4-5 XD FA, Facebook, weasyl, IB, SF and DA...also kiiind of tumblr but not as much. FA, Weasyl and inkbunny are my mains though. Sofurry is just a mature/adult account for me. But yeah it's not that hard X3

    I think the combination of FenderBender and the Waxpost plugin for Chrome made transitioning over to Weasyl so painless (and they worked while FA was read-only for so long) we may have hit the tidal-wave tipping point.

    Even with FA "up" (and it's crashed a few times since coming back online still) a LOT of artists have decided "Enough is enough" since it was down during such a major time of the year for them for sales, crippling several artists I know alone, and a TON more otherwise.

      The convenience of being able to transfer everything easily is nice. I am trying not to do the 'mass watch' tactic just yet because it's nice to re-discover friends and keep the circle small while new friends are found too. :}

      I just hope that the positives of this sites development overall will bring everyone together again and give the FA team a break since it's clearly been hard for them to keep up with the community booming.

        Sadly FA's development is a single individual, has been for years. :(

        There hasn't been a "team" behind FA in a very long time, that's been well documented by various sources. :/

          ;3

          I know. We talked about it. There are more to the politics of running a web site than letting everything hinge on the ONE Developer's opinion. There is a team of individuals that also help support the site through their administrative tasks who should be able to voice peoples opinions. I am certain they've had to deal with more than their fair share of complaints and that's something that the Developer is not doing. So yeah. Break time for the FA team. What better way to even the load?

            This is true, poor FA has burned out soooooooooo damn many poor staffers over the years, especially as of late. O.o
