I have problem by Daigo

Cross poster works! Cool! now the question is Do I bring ALL of my old work to weasyl or not. Some of my own issues with uploading art is that I have issue with it being old. So I look at old art and im like....I dont want to post that...again anyway. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I have problem

I feel like that all the time when i cross post from a place. But, i kinda want it to be fresh and new, so i always post new art, and are more or less just forgetting the old art. (That i don't want to post)

yeeeah I feel ya on the fresh start part. I kinda want the same.

  • Link

I felt the same way o: so... I just posted my recent pics. *shrugs* but that's me

  • Link

I would use the FA stats, what I do is I check what has the most favorites, most comments and most views. Taking the most popular and talked about art and starting from there.

    • Link

thats actually a good idea too XD

  • Link

Please dump it all. I know as an artist, sometimes you feel like you've grown beyond your old work, but there's plenty of us who still appreciate and like the old creations.

    • Link

Why must you make this hard! XD

      • Link

Because I am a terrible person, of course.

  • Link

Not an artist, so I can't give you any advice. But if you do not bring any old art over to Weasyl, I guess that could be considered a fresh start, clean slate etc.

  • Link

If you don't feel like uploading it again, just provide a link in your profile that says something like "old art here..." and leave it at that. Folks will check it out if interested, and that way you don't have to go though with doing something you're not keen on here.

God I know what you mean. Looking back at submissions from even just a year ago can make me cringe. But I think Fenoxo hit it on the head.

  • Link

fresh start on a fresh page is always good. i'd say just repost your top 10 favorite pics or last 10 pics or something on to weasyl (or whatever new site you go on) then just build up from there. s'what i'm going to do

I've not posted my old stuff and I don't think I will... I think I'd prefer people to judge me on my current work rather than my older work, so why bring it over? Sure people might fave and stuff but in the end if people see my old work they may assume its what I can do now, and thats-a-no-good to me!

  • Link

I would say just post the stuff you prefer.

  • Link

I would say a select few older pics to whet watchers whistles, then new pics from then on.

    • Link

      mmm maybe ill try both!

  • Link

It depends. For me personally, I left most of my pre-tablet work at the table, so to speak. I then went through the rest of my gallery and just brought over the stuff that I thought would best represent my skills. Sometimes a fresh start does the mind good.

    • Link

mmm hmmm agreed. I do like my older works though..there is just this mental block of " Its a year old...DONT POST STUPID" even if its not bad. but old. i think stupidly

  • Link

Not sure. Took me 9 hours to submit about 300 posts. Depends on how much you're willing to transfer.

  • Link

I'm probably going to just bring over starting from a cutoff point and on. It's not like I don't have all the old art on my PC anyway.

    • Link

mmm hmmm I feel ya ...*pinches*

      • Link

        Yeeep!! Hey!! >:3

  • Link

I tend to sort out the stuff I still like (either for skill or historical/sentimental reasons) and quietly forget the other ones.

Mind you, this wasn't much a problem with this account, I have, what, six submissions?

  • Link

Have you looked at this one?

    http://projects.weasyl.com/soft/ to find friends/followers here!

    Welcome!

  • Link

I posted couple of my old works in here before just sticking with more recent stuff. o:

  • Link

Bring the stuff you want to show off or sort everything into collections so it doesn't feel cluttered :O keep the fresh gallery smell!

  • Link

I feel the same way. I didn't want to post up old stuff. I even put unique stuff up here for a while that still isn't up on FA... but yeah.

A few old things I like a lot are considered for upload, but *mostly new*

    • Link

yeah Im gonna do that with every site but not FA "post things it wont have" and try to keep my base informed of such things. really want this place to get bigger and better!

      • Link

        THINGS GETTING BIGGER?! Im there..

  • Link

    HOW DOES THE EXTENSION WORK?!

    • Link

      I ALREADY TOLD YOU FOO!

  • Link

I was going to bring my whole gallery over, but then I decided to just start from the beginning of 2013 and onwards. I dislike re-posting older works XD

    • Link

Yeah I believe I will do the same!

  • Link

I was going to do the same thing. and I brought some here. but then in the end I got lazy and didn’t continue posting them. so I just started posting only new works instead. I just hope that the site here gets more traffic and becomes the next FA. they just need to add some missing features.

    • Link

Agreed some missing features and some changes here and there and it will be even better. Im loving a lot about this place already though so im trying my hardest to keep people informed.

  • Link

That's kind of the problem I'm having too. I'll do it if you do it though. just shift my problems off onto you, ya big muscly man :V

    • Link

AWRRGH Noooo XD! Im basically picking and choosing the ones Im actually proud though to help my decision making.

      • Link

I may end up just dumping a bunch of art I don't hate yet over here just to break up all the pony stuff I've been drawing. Been on a real kick lately.

  • Link

Personally for me, I would repost everything. The big thing that I miss for some people I watch is having the archive of their work to share with others. So people can see your history of how your art improves. And having to jump from site to site or even being lost from the net. Yes it can make you feel like your posting crap being X amount of years old but even the smallest bit of art made someone like it. And people who are new to your art should have a chance to also enjoy it.

    • Link

thats not a bad way to look at it at all. showing the progress that has been made of years of years of work. hmmmm

      • Link

Glad you think so. Yes it work to repost but atleast it's all there. As a backup too
