Weekly Update (3-11-2024) by Lloxie

Well, covid finally got me as of today. (Though to be fair I was starting to feel a little cruddy over the weekend, but at the time I chalked it up to subpar sleep) Managed to dodge it for four years, so I guess I can't complain too much. Still, feeling pretty rough at the moment. Really tired and foggy, plus achy and sore. Was going to work on my writing more today, but I'll have to wait and see if my head clears a bit. Maybe a bit of food will help, heh.

Not much new to say on the writing front. I still have a poll up here if you want to vote on themes for my next short story after I'm done with Milo and Ikarsi's little romp through the city. I want to flesh out that setting a little more and finally name it as well, but obviously that'll have to wait until I can think clearer.

As for MHO, I know there's been a lot of dialogue scenes lately, but trust me, more exciting stuff is coming! I have a number of encounters for our little trio to have coming up soon, plus some more character growth. It's high time Kuna started practicing that "star" magic more! ....but that won't be the only magical developments coming up~ :3c

So yeah, hope to get more out before long. Just depends on how fast I start feeling better. Now if you excuse me, i'm gonna go eat some ramen and take a nap, I think... @.@

    get well soon! <:o /gen I've never really had covid before but I have been told they're similar to colds in a way. I know for sure that noodles really do help soothe a bad cold. there is also alot of raw onions and raw shallots in my diet so that could explain why I haven't caught a cold in many years, and have possibly been avoiding covid that way too :o

    • Link

      Thank you! Yeah today I've mostly just been sore and fatigued, with a sore throat that comes and goes, and pretty consistent mental fog. Feel like a zombie, heh x-x; I love both noodles and onions, hehe. ^^ I used to get sick all the time. Then ironically because of covid and all the extra precautions, that kinda stopped. I still wear a mask in public and am a bit more careful about things than I used to be. This is the first major illness I've had since then as a result. But eh, guess I couldn't dodge it forever xD

      • Link

        that's really good that you like noodles and onions too! ^-^ I hope they help, having lots of raw onions in your diet has been known to help fight germs, but I didn't realise they helped prevent illnesses until one time I was once one of the only people at work who never caught the cold. still wish I had the day off tho.. QwQ I also haven't had colds in general for over several years now, it's surprising :o though at some point i have a feeling i'm gonna get the virus too, I just hope it wont kill me, I've had my vaccinations, but needles scare me..yeesh! D: they also hurt real bad.. >.0; that's why I'm prescribed on numbing cream for future injections, i have very severe trypanophobia so it's important the docs and nurses make it quick and get it done and over with, because I felt myself getting so scared to the point I get very tempted to back out at the last second and be like no, I can't do this.. {{ (>_<) }}

        • Link

          Yeah I'm not great with needles either, thought I've gotten better than I used to be. The thing I really can't stand is having blood drawn. Taking something out is infinitely worse to me than putting something in for me, for whatever reason. x_X; I almost always faint no matter what. One time I even fainted twice.

          I haven't heard of such a numbing cream for injections before.Neat to know that exists! I'm just sorry you need such a thing. ;w;

          • Link

            yeahh I'm so scared of that I can't even watch.. >.<; i think seeing it happen would worsen my trypanophobia, it doesn't matter if they're taking blood or if they're giving me vaccinations, it's all too scary and I'm too scared to even look DX at this point I'm glad I like my hair long, because if they want my shoulder for it then i just move my long hair all to one side to help it block out the view of the needles on my shoulder ouch.. long hair is also handy if I want to hide my face, I could make it so my hair covers my whole face. uh..I'll explain the rest on discord, I don't want stalkers to find this and take advantage, so I'm gonna hide that info and share it on discord instead so they can't get at it and use it against me. you know what bullies are like.. X.X;

            I too have has these.. "side effects" is it? when it comes to needles. they're so scary and painful that I too have found myself almost fainting several times.. 0-0; I don't think I actually have before, but I almost did. I think my trypanophobia was more severely worse back then, I think numbing cream kinda helped with my fears and phobias a bit <:3 but yeah I remember I had to have a lie down because everytime it came to injections, it felt like I was in a daydream (in a bad way) that I couldn't snap out of, like real life felt like it was all just a daydream and everything was blurry and it was hard to see. it was also hard to hear, all the talking turned into echoey noise and it was getting really hard to focus, and I wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to stand for long because I was really dizzy aswell and my head felt like it had pins and needles or something but it wasn't that but it's hard to explain hhhhhhhohohujhioguhuhfgiou have you ever had that too?

            so I thought I'd share a bit of advice that helps me a bit, I thought it might help you too! maybe if your doc says you need an injection or a blood test, you could ask them about the numbing cream and explain to them about the pain, stress, fear, and risks of fainting you go through when it comes to needles. they should understand, and they might be able to prescribe you one pack numbing cream for that injection. you get one everytime you go to get an injection, but you don't get it monthly or anything, just only when you get the jab. if you can't get it prescribed, you can ask where you can buy it, because it can really help people like us with severe trypanophobia and the pain and side effects we get along with scary needles. I can also give you a tip for putting on numbing cream: first, make sure the doctor knows where they're gonna jab you. if they say it's on your shoulder, put cream on there. but if they say it's on the opposite side of your elbow, put the cream on there. it's important that both you and the doc knows where they're gonna give you the needles, because the numbing cream only helps that area only, it's made to make that part of your body numb so you feel little to no pain, so that's why it's very important you both know, so you can be prepared for when it happens

            when putting on the cream, put on lots, try to get it all on that area without rubbing it in, it's important to make sure you also leave cream sitting on top of that area, because the cream will set in and do its job making that part numb, that's why you put on lots, don't worry if it's not tidy. oh and leave it in for about more than an hour before the needles, try not to let the cream rub off on anything because it sits on your skin to do its job. so when it's time for the injection, let the docs know that you need to get it done quick and get it done and over with, cos I find when they make you wait, it builds up that fear to the point well for me I feel like backing out last second, so that's why I feel it's better if they make it quick and not cause you to wait so long that they build up the fear. also i find it's less scary then they don't tell you when they're doing it, cos if they do and they do the countdown thing, that just adds more to the fear and it doesn't help really. also, if you can, try not to look when it's happening, cos seeing it happen is even more scary. and also it might be a good idea to bring a friend for comfort too, friends are there for each other even during tough times <:3 so bring a buddy and after that yous can go treat yourself to your favourite restaurant or fast food for being so brave :3 a reward in the end is important, because you're gonna need the comfort and it also helps make the day seem not as bad because hey you get your favourite food for being very brave ^w^ and it's nice to have the comfort of the support from your good friends too :3

            • Link

              Yeah I think the key is for them to just be fast. Believe me, first thing I do when I show up for a blood draw, I let them know about my issues, very emphatically and clearly. Even if I've seen the same person for it multiple times before, I make sure to remind them. @@;; And yeah, I've tried all sorts of tricks- not looking, counting down, talking about other things, etc. Doesn't seem to be any guaranteed way to prevent fainting, though the few times I've avoided fainting, they were very fast and efficient about it, so yeah I think that's my best bet. I've started making a habit of asking them to be quick. Thing is, it's always afterwards that I faint, if it's gonna happen. So it isn't related to the pain from the needle or anything, just... the psychological aspect, I guess. ^^;; My head gets stuck in an infinite loop fixation type thing and I just... conk out afterwards, like my brain's way of resetting itself. So sadly I don't know that the numbing stuff would help any. Still good to know that exists though! I appreciate you telling me about it. =3

              And yeah, I usually do go grab food right afterwards. Cus half the time I have to fast a bit beforehand (which certainly doesn't help matters >>;;) and it's often in the morning, where I had to get up early and skip breakfast, so I'm likely to be pretty dang hungry by that point, too. xD

              • Link

                the numbing should help prevent the pain and not looking means you don't have to see anything horrific and scary, so it might be worth a try aswell :o sometimes you wont know until you try y'know? <:3 I do both and both really helps, you still get a wee bit of pain if the cream hasn't completely set in 100%, but at least it's not as bad as without, and I feel the side effects are less common with the cream too

                I learnt what a difference it made when I stayed in hospital once, because I had fallen very ill at that time and unfortunately there was needles..lots of needles.. X.X; but I tried with and without the cream and honestly the cream made a huge difference so I know to try that from now on along with not looking. I think the only time I ever looked was when I was very little, I full on panicked when I saw that, it was terrifying and I never wanna see it again.. 0-0; the best thing to do is to try and find methods and ways that work, those are just my recommendations that helped me so maybe it might help you too who knows ^-^ either way, I hope it helps, even if it's just a little

                yeah maybe take a bottle of your favourite water with you could help, it's nice to have water in the morning and I hear having a drink of water for when you feel lightheaded can help a little ^-^ my favourite bottled water is evian, i'm not so keen on tap water because I notice the yucky aftertaste..eauck! XP what's your favourite water?

                • Link

                  Luckily the pain itself usually isn't too big a deal. Like I said, for me it's mostly psychological. x.X; That said, I'll definitely keep the numbing stuff in mind and may ask about it next time!

                  And oh jeeze, I'm sorry to hear that. x-x I guess I'm lucky I've never had to spend a night in the hospital before, heh. The one time I was hooked up to an IV was when I was put under to have my wisdom teeth removed. Which sucked, but at least I wasn't conscious of it for very long, heh. ^^;;

                  The water bottle thing's not a bad idea, I'll have to remember to do that. They sometimes have a water dispenser with some paper cups there, but it's probably safest just to bring my own. And when it comes to pre-bottled water, I actually drink a looooot of mineral water and seltzer, actually. xD But if we're excluding those, uh.... I like some of those flavored waters from like Core and Smart Water. Particularly the Calm flavor of Core. It's got cucumber in it, and I find that cucumber water is wonderfully refreshing, hehe. ^^

                    wwwhatsa psychological? yeahh I decided to leave my job because very stupid people there were coughing and sneezing all over their hands, picking their noses and not washing their hands after being in the toilet, and then touching food to share out. and normally i'm pretty good at avoiding food that's covered in their disgusting germs, but i think i might of been caught offguard one time and didn't realise food had been touched with stinky smelly grubby little hands, i think that's why i became very sickly and rushed to the bathroom literally every 15 minutes to throw up and whatnot. it was affecting my ability to sleep cos i literally had to rush to the bathroom to do that all the time, and i knew something was up, so i had to do alot of persuading to take me to hospital, because something definitely wasn't right at all...

                    this was also the first time i had surgery, which surprisingly wasn't as painful and bad as the needles was, but i was still very nervous. the people there talked about my anxiety alot, i think they might of known i had it. I don't think I've ever been knocked out in my life before either so that was a first time too...it felt like being teleported and timewarped to one place to another.. 0-o one minute i was in a scary room then the next minute everything went blank and my bed was moving back to my room and i couldn't gain the energy to move at all. later i did try to get the energy to move my neck because it was hurting being in the same place for too long, but after that i still found it hard to do anything and lacked the energy to do much until much later. I uh.. still have the scars on my tummy after that surgery, so I don't think I'll go back to that place anymore cos I don't think I want to end up with more :<

                    cucumber water does sound nice ^-^ cucumber juice in general! i've never tried it but i've always loved the scent of sweet cucumber :3 it's my guinea pig's favourite treats X3 my favourite flavoured water is mac b, it's a scottish flavoured water with a cute bee mascot :3 i like the sparkling peach flavour but i can't find it anywhere now :< it's a shame cos it was so good too.. D: ohh you like watery sodas? do you like sparkling water? I think I might be the polar opposite XD I like sodas that are full on flavour and very sweet :3 I have a sweet tooth ^w^ though since you like watery sodas, I think you'll really like the japanese ramune sodas, I didn't like them all too much cos they tasted like water to me, but I think you'd like them alot more than I would, I just wish they had actual flavourful versions because the flavours looked so good too... QwQ

                    ..I put lots of sugar when making hot cocoa or milkshakes XDDD my taste in food is sweet like my personality and art creations lol X3 then again I can be sassy 'n' salty when I need to be too lol ( which isn't common but yes I do get sassy at my bullies and haters, I like to annoy the crap outta them :3 ), I like salty foods too =D

                    • Link

                      Er. As in mental, I guess? You know, having to do with psychology? Not sure how else to explain it. ^^;; And yeech that sounds nasty. x_X Glad you got out of that disease factory! Places like that should get fined for fostering such unhealthy environments. >-<

                      And yeah, blacking out in any way is kinda trippy. Timeskip is definitely an accurate way to describe the feeling, heh. In addition to being put under for having my wisdom teeth taken out (the only surgery I ever had so far), I've fainted a number of times, including a few times not related to having blood drawn. I was in band as a kid and one time we were doing an outdoor performance and I had to stand for it. Well, I was a bit anemic and dehydrated that day, it was hot out, and I locked my knees like you're not supposed to do. I was standing there playing the trumpet one minute, and the next thing I knew I was on the ground staring up at people clustered around me checking to make sure I was alright. I was more embarrassed than anything, heh. x-x; But yeah... the stuff they use to put you under can really throw you for a loop, too. xD

                      Yeah, cucumber water tastes... well, best way I can describe it is it somehow tastes cleansing. Like you drink and somehow feel healthier from the flavor in a way I can't describe. xD It's good. Cucumbers in general, when they're good and fresh, definitely have that healthy detox vibe to them. I love cucumber salad, hehe. :D And aww that water brand sounds neat hehe x3 Sucks when you find something you like, only for it to be discontinued or just disappear. Hope that peach flavor shows back up soon for ya! And yeah I drink a lot of sparkling water hehe. I do enjoy Ramune occasionally, especially the melon flavor, but that again has a lot of sugar. Surprised to hear it described as watery cus they taste as sweet as any other soda to me. xD I do wish there were more melon flavored things out there. And I don't mean watermelon, but like honeydew or cantaloupe etc. They're underrated!

                      Hehe, I do enjoy salty things, though I have to be careful with how much I consume cus otherwise I get nasty heartburn xwx Shame, too, cus I also enjoy spicy food. Alas, why can't I just have a more resilient body? XP

                      • Link

                        uh.. XwX /? and yeah I agree that place gave me scars..physical ones this time.. D: and they were suppose to be "neurodiversity friendly" but they disrespected my boundaries and discomforts so to places like that aswell as characterhub is basically this: "autism friendly" my arse. cos if it really were autism friendly they would be more understanding and respectful about it. not everyone has the same needs, we are a spectrum after all. U.U

                        what's trippy? what's anemic? :o also yeahh be safe <:o blowing too much like blowing an instrument can definitely cause dizziness and fainting, I found myself getting dizzy for blowing too much before in a way I can understand.. ^-^; and ohh gosh, I always feel so awkward when everyone crowds around me like uh..what do i do? what do they want me to do? OvO;; /nay i also get very very awkward when people lift me up, i'm all quiet and awkward cos I get super embarrassed if people were to carry me, I embarrass easily.. ^w^;

                        ooh yeah i feel all fresh and healthier having something healthy all the time :3 like having fish or fruit ^w^ both my guinea pig's is cucumber and apples :3 I don't think the peach discontinued, it's just rare to find. sadly summer fruits discontinued tho, and that flavour was awesome :< ramune just tastes like water to me, like on the first sip yes i taste the flavour for the first second, but after that it's just sparkling water to me. oh gosh yeah honeydew and cantaloupe are way more superior than watermelon :D i think watermelon is my least favourite melon, but cantaloupe is my favourite, i actually commissioned a summer pic of my fursona enjoying a giant slice of cantaloupe melon once X3 i requested the watermelon to be cantaloupe instead :3 unfortunately it's not on furaffinity anymore as the user may of deleted or left, but you still see it in my livestreams like just recently ^w^ https://www.twitch.tv/hazelthevixen my favourite japanese melon foods are the hard candies that are a lovely melon flavour, i also really like the mogu mogu nata de coco melon drinks with chewy coconut gummies, they're so good and they're lovely and sweet 💛 I need to get more :3

                        also I looove salty foods X3 I like to make my noodles and chips (we call em chips here) nice and salty. unfortunately I can't handle spicy very well tho, i rush to get water every single time :< wish i could handle spicy more cos there are some foods that look so darn good QwQ i can handle haggis tho, that only has a hint of spice, but i like it :3 i also like these crunchy japanese snacks that's a bit like having a giant wotsit/cheeto but it's like a lovely meat flavour, like teriyaki flavour or something :3 that has only a hint of spice i can handle too, plus they're addicting XD i love the cute cartoony pictures they always have, they remind me of Doraemon characters :3 i need to see that anime i've always been interested in it :3 i love talking about all the different kinds of delicious foods, ima bit of a foodie but i worked as a cook before :3 even though i do consider myself both a foodie and a cook, i don't consider myself an expert or anything <:3 so ima just a humble cook..
