Well howdy everyone! by Charem

I did not actually expect such a drove of people to come by and follow me over here! Welcome everyone!

So this place will be my official art repository for what was previously my FurAffinity gallery. Weasyl has near-identical rules to FA, but a much-chiller and more-reasonable moderation team, so this is a nice place to host everything.

Keep in mind this is a repository first and foremost; a storage. I am definitely still active here (and I'm still active on FA too, despite my gallery-removal), so please do feel free to leave comments and such! But as far as me posting new art goes...well, we'll see. I've been sort of out of the mood to share art for a few years now as I've focused my life towards other things, but I definitely feel way more comfortable posting here than I do FA. Who knows; I might feel inspired if enough people end up following me over here. ^^

I'm aware a lot of people left FA for Eka's as of late, and that did cross my mind as a possibility too. I do have an Eka's account and have for some time (even have some stuff hosted there too from back in the day; https://aryion.com/g4/user/charemthecharmeleon if you're curious), but I would say I like Weasyl's layout way more than Eka's. Eka's is definitely a bit more active than Weasyl, but...well, for now, I'm just gonna watch what people do with this whole FA debacle.

I actually feel Eka's might be a poor choice in the future, though. They do allow cub content there, which I personally do not mind at all but I feel like Eka's will just get the same activist waves that FA's been having if enough people move to Eka's. Weasyl here doesn't accept cub at all, and so it's not as likely to see all of that drama.

And really, that's also why I'm over here. Is this a popular site? No. Is this a site that's more or less avoided drama? Heck yes. And that's ultimately the strongest reason why I'm here.

    yeah weasyl's great ^w^ deviantart was a complete hellhole for drama, bullying, and theft, so I'm so glad to finally be outta there and migrated to weasyl instead :3 the community is alot better here and despite the fact that updates are slow, at least the site's not completely ded since they still moderate the place.. UwU besides I am super duper patient aswell, I don't mind if updates are slow :3 just as long as bugs and errors are eventually fixed tho.. XwX but yeah it's still my favourite art place, I made alot of friends here! :D

      DA makes me uncomfortable with how it has a lot of younger users, yet at the same time allows for photographic nude art with very loose rules on what counts as 'art' and not 'porn'... Used to use it a little bit but the site feels very 'off' to me.

      What do you know about the community here on Weasyl btw, and the site's health? I only really lurked here so far, haven't really engaged anybody extensively. But it does seem chill.

      Eka's is okay, but... I've actually heard of people getting attacked on Eka's Portal for not drawing females and humans and female humans. Like I have a friend who got dissed for their male furry vore art, because it 'should instead' be female vore. I think the core audience over there is a bit...narrow-minded sometimes. Also, agreed; they allow cub and that's fine to me too, but I don't think they really have the setup to protect their site or users if attackers head over there.

      InkBunny is a very solid site too, but I just use mine specifically to host the...ahem, stuff of that nature. IB is known for that, but even if you're not into that, it's a good site with smart rules and a very nice head admin I've talked to before. Unlike Eka's, I think they're quite well prepared to fight off hate; heck, they already have had to many times because of their 'negative reputation'...but really, it's quite a good site, and they've clearly held up to the attacks quite well.

      Weasyl not accepting cub makes it comfortable to me as a general-use site, yeah. I think that avoids the brunt of the drama. ^^ Glad to hear they're still doing updates and tending to the place.

        yeahh that's rather worrying, inkbunny made me really uncomfortable with the amount of pedophillia on there aswell so I left cos of the discomforts of the creeps on there.. D:

        I've been super active on weasyl since I moved here almost 5 years ago, and while there are the occasional bad eggs here and there like emeraldia (and well, bad eggs are everywhere but weasyl has them least), there's actually alot of nice people on here too and I met some cool peeps like keirajo, yosh, and aoi on there too who I became really good friends with ^w^

        as for the staff, they're alright UwU haven't experienced them as much as the community but I'd say they do their job sometimes :3 a year ago after my bday I was attacked by spam accounts from the bullies who came from deviantart. I contacted weasyl for help and they got them all banned for me yayy ^w^ I really appreciated the help from friends and staff, I don't think I could've been able to defend myself without them so I thank them!

        what's Eka? and I'm a bit unsure and uncomfortable about cub, since I hear that's pedophillia and I don't really agree on pedophillia.. :<

          I'd rather not get into it too much, but I would advise you to not use the p-word word towards forms of artwork. If you disagree with those forms of artwork or feel uncomfortable by them, that is totally fine, and I understand that opinion. But somebody having that stuff as a fictional interest is not...what you're calling it. That word...it's spit out far too often. Let's save it for the people who are actually hurting others in real life, and not use it towards those who simply have a polarizing fictional interest. It's a very harsh word and it should only be used towards those who truly did harm.

          And to answer your question, it's Eka's Portal, the site I'm talking about that some others are migrating to from FA.

            hm well.. fictional or not whether it's artwork or no, cub and other fictional pedophillia is still pedophillia... :/

            I simply feel it's dangerous to lump fictional and real things into the same mindset, viewpoint, or label.
