Pretty new here, just set up and moved a bunch of artwork onto here.
The activity on here seems a bit slow unlike what I was kinda used to with Deviantart until DA went weird and pretty much all the people I talked with and followed abandoned ship.
What's the community vibe here like? I haven't seen a whole lot of interaction so I assume it's a lot like Art Station where you mostly just post and if people like it they like it and if not who cares.

Ah cool, I was worried the community would be like Art Station where nobody really engages each other and just uses it as a dumping ground for their portfolio.-
oh yeahh :o i think furiffic was kinda like that but thankfully some peeps recently have been trying to start convos on the site which i'm happy about, even though i'm not so active on there.. ^-^; i was getting a bit lonely with the lack of communications there as usually people just upload and that's it, maybe the occasional fave and journal but that was all really :< but i'm glad some peeps are starting convos and inviting new peeps to the place
weasyl's like my favourite site tho, it's the art site i'm most active on ^w^ i was bullied so much on deviantart so migrating to weasyl was the best choice ever really :3 people made me feel welcome here when i was super nervous first joining, and i made alotta friends on there ^w^ i'm sure you'll like this place too! though i do have a stalker who copies and steals my ideas on there and wont leave me be, but apart from that creep, most peeps here seems friendly UwU

I was active on DA for years, was on there for like 10 years I think, and it just slowly dwindled down to a bit of a ghost town. Nobody really talks or wants to give critique and chat about art anymore which is pretty upsetting as an artist who really wants to chat about art and learn new things.
It's ok if you do really big comments lol hell of a lot better than the bland "cool!" comments I was getting on occasion on DA. I have been mostly active on places like Ko-fi, Insta and from time to time Face Book but I wanted to try and find somewhere that is more for artists than just a place where artists happen to be if that makes sense.

ahh.. well i'm sure you'll be able to find some convos and make some friends here :3 i don't mind one word comments unless i'm talking to a friend and all they go is "K" all the time, as it's kinda offputting when i'm tryna start a convo with them.. :< i tend to talk to people less when they do that.
but comments on art such as "nice", "cool", "cute" i don't mind cos i appreciate the compliments so i thank them ^w^ i think it's because i know these peeps are only stopping by at my page quickly to admire my works then they go do the same with other artists or something else, and i think it's because i know these peeps probably aren't gonna stick around for long so i usually just give em a quick "thanks :3"
ohh so you mean that you're looking for an art community sorta site right? ^-^ well i'd say weasyl's a very good choice ^w^ it's popular among furries tho so you'll see alot of us around here. but as long as you're okay with that then it's cool! :3

I guess I got a bit annoyed with the one word comments I would get on DA is because they were the only interaction my art seemed to get, they wouldn't like the art either and there were so many people who would say like "cute!" or fav and then unfav your work just to get you to come to their pages.
I hope you don't mind but I followed you, you know this place better than me and are open to chatting. It's always a bit hard to start new on sites, there's so much to browse and learn about.
Yeah, it's hard to find a good art community that isn't a bunch of art snobs but also isn't just a bunch of kids. But this place seems to have the kind of balance that DA used to have where you have the more pro artists down to the young/new artists. I also don't have an issue with furries, I myself am not one but I do have a handful of mates who are.

oh dang.. people fave just to unfave later? wow.. just goes to show how toxic deviantart truly is.. D: it's like on twitter and instagram, people only follow just to unfollow later as a cheaty way to gain more followers >.< well at least instagram has that problem less than twitter cos i noticed some followers are actually here to stay and not just unfollow later, i think i heard it's also against the instagram rules to follow only to unfollow. i've sorta given up trying to get notice on twitter since i always get big chunks of unfollowers no matter what i do.. -_-; with instagram it's just 1 or 2 but twitter it's about 5+ but currently i'm working hard on trying to get notice on instagram. i still make things for fun but i just feel it would be nice to be noticed for once <:3
that's totally okay! i appreciate it! ^w^ i can understand, it can be a little confusing sometimes when you first join sites :o i like to give things a chance and if i'm ever overwhelmed with confusion then usually i take a break and come back later. it usually helps :3 breaks are important after all!
hhmm but even adults can be novice artists :o my best friend is slightly older than me and is still a bit new to drawing. but i like to help her out sometimes, like if she's unsure on how to draw something then i give her some good tips and advice on what might help and easy ways on how i manage :3 and when she feels demotivated because she says her art is "bad" then i become like her very own cheerleader and cheer her on lol X3
me and my bestie sometimes like to do practice doodles on aggie.io, sometimes we joke around on there lol i remember she was laughing all the way through the discord call cos i randomly decided to draw some joke art of one of my ocs XD this was it XDD Max is a moody grump lol derrrrp!

Yeah it got really bad on DA with the follow unfollow people, there is also shit loads of dead accounts or abandoned accounts. Some of the groups that were really big are almost ghost towns now and some have moved to places like Discord or I think it's called Toyhouse? but yeah DA just aint what it used to be, last time I was on there most of the active accounts I came across were more often than not fetish and porn artists, those guys are thriving like no tomorrow!
Sorry my reply is a bit late but I was working on a drawing and doing some browsing on here. I am on Instagram and so far I haven't had any problems with unfollows but I am still fairly new so it could happen later. Twitter isn't too bad but it's very hard to get noticed as an artist on there unless you are like god tier.

yeah deviantart also has alot of bullies and bad people. people there tend to do more drama and ranting than actual artwork and there's always drama going on there. they're always making attack journals complaining about other people and other callouts/rants. i'm actually happy that weasyl has a rule against callouts and rants about other people. at least i can finally be in peace here away from all the deviantart bullies and drama :3
not only that but i've seen alot evil people on deviantart sell real animal fur which is definitely not cool. what's worse is that there's some really evil people who support fur farms! D: just buy fake fur instead! it's alot better for your skin and no animals are harmed making it. i'm just glad there's some rescue companies such as SaveAFox who save foxes and other animals from these horrible places and tame them into loving pets for adoption. if you see Finnegan fox on youtube, he's one of SaveAFox's pets and mascots
sorry for my slight complaint, just needed to get some things off my chest. but deviantart is rubbish so yeh. not going back there and never will. weasyl is my happy place UwUoh yeah i'm also on discord and toyhouse :3 toyhouse is really handy if you have alot of ocs, it's sorta like having file folders of your characters but online and shared :3 you can also have an art gallery featuring all the pics your characters are in and it can include art by you, other peeps, or even in dressup games! i also really like how you can decorate profiles for your characters and even post comments as your characters :D and if you have a group art featuring you and your friend's oc, and they happen to have a toyhouse too then you can tag em :D same with art that's given, you can be able to credit them onsite ^w^

Nah you're good, I don't mind people having a rant as long as I am not the target. We all got things we get passionate about.
DA drama is pretty insane, some of them call out journals, which are against TOS but some how don't get people in trouble, have huge google docs full of evidence it is crazy.
I used to have a lot of OC's but over the years it's mostly just dwindled down to maybe 3 or 4. Many of my characters were made when I was at my most active on DA and took part in ARPG groups but they are mostly dead or abandoned now so I retired the characters. I still have them I just don't have the same enthusiasm to use them like I once did.

yeahh i don't mind the occasional vent/rant as long as it's not public and aimed towards anyone. venting is healthy and helps get things off your chest that you've been bottling up. people are free to vent to me as long as i'm not their punchbag or anything.. ÚwÙ
wow yeah, i remember hearing that google doc rants became a thing after i left too, it really is messed up.. D: but god i was like manipulated so much on there.. haters would always spread fake rumours and people always believed them because you know what these haters do? they attack me until i act out of self defense, then they start guilt tripping me and screenshotting it all, blurring out their names but not mine to leave it open for more haters to attack even more. and usually they don't mention or show what they've done and did to me first, they just show my response when i was just protecting myself and claim me to be the "attacker". then they manipulate and play the victim to make me look bad and they're always painting me out as the bad guy when that's not the case really. D:
after the hatred went way too far to the point they hacked me, i even once tried to make a journal explaining the truth and explaining everything that really happened, but i guess i was a bit too late i mean.. people didn't believe me and even didn't believe the fact that i actually got hacked and the haters themselves even did a rant journal about my important announcement, sobbing and weeping, guilt tripping and playing the victim, aaand ofcourse, people continue to villainise me and worship the haters.. ¬.¬
like this was my first time being hacked in a bad way ever, like honestly it was terrifying.. >.<; the only times i've ever been hacked was in harmless ways such as a friend offering to help me win a game to get a certain item and stuff like that. but this was my first time being hacked in a bad way and it was scary. but like i never even give out passwords or anything, even towards the good hackers, i never ever give out passwords. hackers just have these tools so they can access people's accounts without having to ask for their passwordohh :o yeah i have 5 or 6 main ocs i mostly use, Hazel, Izzy, Cody, Max, Lavender, Zack. but Hazel is my fursona so she's basically just me as a fox :3 and Izzy is really just a comfort character and imaginary friend so he isn't used as much as the others but is still sometimes included in group pics cos he's special and deserves to be included :3
i have about 30 or 40 other characters too but they aren't used as much. however! i am making a comic and animation series so it's likely i'll have use for all these characters ^w^ i'm trying not to create any more characters but now i can't stop myself cos i've currently got loads of character ideas i've been meaning to create XD but at least i now only create ocs i've got ideas for :3
like since my fursona can also be a mage/witch, she's has to of learnt her magic somehow! that's why my character's universe is gonna have a magic school and i have loads of ideas for it :D i'm even gonna include some already made characters as students! but it's not gonna be your regular old school, it's gonna be something more fun. like instead of learning maths, you can learn spells :D kinda like Little Witch Academia, i may of gotten the inspiration from that ^w^ oh dang, sorry for the super long message! i hope i'm not annoying to you or anything <:o-
I haven't really thought much about my characters, Pie Lord is probably the one that gets used the most especially since he is my art block breaker. I kinda miss some of the ARPG groups because I really liked the make art using prompts, earn game rewards and level up/evolve my characters.
I don't mind the big messages lol
