That big rant I said I was going to write by Marwan

Alright, the truth is that I've been reluctant whether or not I want to write this journal. In fact, I wasn't even planning to write this right on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks; I was planning to post this much sooner than that.

Something's bothering me, and it's concerning funny how the world works these days, with all these wars, these conflicts and such. Like for example, concerning religions. The religious believe that the lack of religious belief (i.e. atheism) is what's causing wars in this world. Atheists, on the other hand, argue that, actually, it's religion itself that's causing wars in this world. Both have points in their arguments; nobody can prove who is right and who is wrong. Religion is something I'd rather not want to discuss... I respect everyone's beliefs. I will listen to anyone -- and yes, even atheists, too. It doesn't matter: you're still my friends. You have your own beliefs, and I have mine. We're still people.

Yesterday, I found out that some Russian YouTuber, in protest against the Russian government's decision to ban playing Pokémon GO in the church, decided to do just that. He went in, quietly catch Pokémon in his smartphone, then went out, while his friend recorded the whole thing. Sometime later, he got arrested, and facing jailtime. His crime? Insulting the feelings of the believers, which is apparently considered such a heinous crime in an orthodox country like Russia. It's ridiculous because he wasn't even trying to cause any disturbance within the church at all. Here, in Malaysia, sometimes, white attending the Friday sermons, I spy some dudes playing games on their phones (probably even catching Pokémon as well) while the imam was blabbering away with his sermons, and not once did they raise any alarm.

Speaking of Pokémon GO, I'm surprised by how a game can spur so much controversy, and it's not even the kind of game that'll make parents upset like Conker's Bad Fur Day. At its core, it's just another innocent game where you catch Pokémon, do gym battles, etc. that sort of stuff. Yet the media, being sensationalist it is, likes to make a huge controversy out of this one game. Stories like some idiotic child got himself hospitalized for trying to play Pokémon GO on the road appear in the headlines here in Malaysia. In fact, whenever our Malaysian newspapers mention about Pokémon GO, it's always negative, like how this game is causing much menace in the society and so on. Our government has already banned Muslims from playing Pokémon GO in the federal territories, though that does very little to deter Malaysian Muslims from enjoying the game. In fact, notably, this game has already been banned in the entire Iran, "for security reasons," according to the official statement, but that doesn't stop Iranian kids from playing the game, catching Pokémon like everyone else.

There's also that "Black Lives Matter" movement, but other than briefly mentioning it, I don't want to go deeper into discussing about this. Enough with this. >_> And also about this huge deal with the late Harambe the gorilla who pretty much lives on as an Internet meme these days.

That's pretty much it, and I already did my rant on YouTube's video demonetization in my last journal, so I don't have to repeat it here. Anyway, my parents are currently in Saudi Arabia, doing their Hajj pilgrimage and such. They'll be back this early October. In the meantime, a cousin of mine decided to stay at my home during this entire month my parents are away, so I don't have to remain lonely for this entire month. He's a cool guy: we go out together, eat lunch together, even helped me with watering the plants in our garden. =3 When not being together, he spends most of his time downstairs watching our family TV in the living room. He even chose to sleep downstairs, so I get all the privacy I want upstairs in my bedroom.

Thanks for reading this pointless journal. *Faints* x_x

Personally, I think people label the wars as "atheism vs. religion" and so on so they don't have to simply admit that they enjoy fighting.

It seemed so. People these days have the most ridiculous excuse for anything.

Atheists, like theists, come in all sizes and shapes. Most are just people who wish for a better life, not to cause a religious or anti-religious war, nor to blame anyone for trying to do so.

And many wars have cultural tension, geopolitics, and conflict over resources as a factor.

If we can keep that in mind, instead of trying to blame religion or irreligion, perhaps the world would be a more understanding place.

Precisely. Well, I know that not everyone who are part of these certain groups are bad. It's unfortunately the vocal minorities within that group that give them the bad name.
