April to June:

  • Get the rest of the stuff needed for Nerf mod. Nope! Never got out to the store to buy it.
  • Start redesigning my main website. Yes and No…
  • Try to get enough funds saved to make it out to some summer conventions. Done and Done!

Cuttin’ it Close on this one!

The first goal is simple, really. Just swing by the beauty supply store and buy the hair net-type thingie to use as a mask for the paint effect I want. Don’t really go by that store all that often and it’s never on my mind when I’m close. o.O

The site redesign stalled a bit but not for the reasons one might guess. I was introduced to a CMS for comics called Grawlix. It neat, it’s flexible, it’s customizable without fighting the hellbeast that is WordPress… and it sparked an idea. I was looking into just adding function to my current personal site. You know, cleaning it up a bit so it doesn’t act like it was built before CSS was the designer’s equivalent to Bondo (not that it wouldn’t still Look like it). I wanted to float the sizes so it could work on more devices easily but that usually means DIV tags and all that comes with them. Then I found out about Grawlix and how they’re using Flexbox tags in place of the solid tables I build my stuff with.

I put my existing ideas on hold until I can get a better hang of Flexbox and all that it can do. I’m especially interesting in the whole shuffling effect that it can do. The idea of being able to build my navigation how I want it and not worry that it’ll be destroyed on different screen sizes makes me very happy. It’s always a good thing to remember that the “U” in “UI” stands for “User”. If someone can’t use your site easily or well, you kinda’ have to think about how you can fix it.

I’m very happy to say that I got out to this year’s ConnectiCon. Almost missed the window on the very last day of the con but I got in. Picked up a couple of items and ended up not going broke ‘cause of an issue with my card getting in. Turns out their system didn’t want to lay nice with my PayPal card (something that happens every so often) so I paid cash to get in. This also meant some funds were on hold on my card ‘till it washed. Turns out that I had Just enough that the remaining cash was a few cents shy of the foolishly high ATM fee.

Well… now for the rest.

Basic vault rules apply:
Keep Moving Forward.

July to September:

  • Continue website redesign.
  • Start in on the next Biff book.
  • Work on the MBF-EA2 Astray Prophet Mk.II.

First two are pretty much work stuff that needs doing. Next volume of Biff needs to be made for October and the cover needs to be made up. I also REALLY need to learn Flexbox as I think that could be quite the option for a guy like myself who digs the steadiness of tables but need to make things fluid enough for modern mobile devices. That last one is something I should just really start. The bulk of that kit sitting around and it’s warm enough to paint for the moment. Might as well take advantage of this while I can.
