I'm just gonna bump the old journal off my front page real quick. by Sunes

Ah. There we go.

Hey, friends over here. Long time no see! Sorry about that. I've been trying to draw more, and to an extent I'm succeeding in that. Now, doing polished work or having something suitable to upload? That's a big'n that I need to tackle. I've been in and out of an emotional rut thanks in part to Brain Problems™, and my patience is pretty much non-existent. I'm also suuuuper rusty because I went without drawing for so long, so I'm working out that for the most part.

My goal is to be able to get more efficient with my work, because as it stands, I'm not. Like at all. It takes me like 6 hours to do something that should be done in 2. My current art process is very tedious, and I want to figure out how I can make it a bit easier on myself. I get burnt out far too easily, and that's no fun for anybody.

Aside from that, I've been really into Undertale. Like dang. It and Splatoon have been filling the void Homestuck has left. Not that I don't like Homestuck any more, but with the hiatuses and the filler, I've been less into it than I was let's say a year ago. And even then it was kinda waning. Why am I talking about this? Nobody cares. I sure don't.

Anyway, that's about it, so see ya until I have some more content to toss into my gallery.

I'm just gonna bump the old journal off my front page real quick.

Undertale has been such an awesome ride. I'm glad you enjoyed it as well! I hope that you get to do a lot of experimenting with how you make stuff, and that it's fun and productive. Taking your time on art is cool and all, but when it takes so long you end up hating it, something's definitely gotta give.

UGH. Yeah, exactly. I have such a terrible track record with drawing stuff and getting bored so I put it down, but when I come back to it, I absolutely HATE IT and can't bring myself to work on it any further. Like 6 or 7 years ago I would legit only draw stuff in one sitting because I knew if I didn't I would never finish it. It was brutal.

I've been having a ton of fun with the dip pens, tho! Like I said before, I understand why so many people don't like them, but maaaaaaaan they're like... the best for me when it comes to traditional inking. I need to work on my strokes, because obviously my method for digital work isn't gonna cut it traditionally, and I need to stop shaking like an addict that's overdue for a fix. Then again, drawing on paper in general is still really ???????????????? for me. I pretty much have been spoiled by the lasso tool, ctrl+t, and - or c (depending on the program). - or c ESPECIALLY. I need to cut that shit out haha.

Ha ha, yeah, it's really weird to switch gears between the two. Like, when I ink traditionally, it is an intense battle fought with my entire body, trying to be as still as possible so as to attain perfection. When I do that with digital inks, they look like shit. I have to remember to ink more like a sketch, and then go back in and utilize the whole vector thingy and put the lines into the places I want them.

Also, there's some really good inking styles out there where the lines are shaky and messy. If shaky hands is ever a problem you can't find a way past, maybe you could try switching your style to fit the shakes. I can't think of any examples to show off the top of my head, but if I went through my manga collection, I'm certain I'd find at least a handful.

Nah, I know what you're talking about as far as shaky and messy lines go! There's so suuuuper cool stuff out there that's so loose and scribbly but it looks phenomenal. I refine stuff too much and need to loosen up. I think it's one of my biggest flaws tbh. Like I refine and tweak so much that by the time I'm done nothing looks very dynamic or natural. IDK. Art is hard.
