HeavyHoss
Equus ferus caballus
Chocolate brown coat, with beige underbelly and markings on his face and rump. Coarse black mane, tail, and feathering. Slow-moving but strong. Capable of carrying loads far larger/heavier than most other companions.
A Brabant and Swedish Ardennes mix, HeavyHoss is descendant of the ancient northern Scandinavian horses. Weighing in at an average of about 3300lbs (1497kgs), he is well suited to colder climates, as well as being easily capable of discouraging most predators.
Brave, loyal, and abnormally large, he makes a great companion for those undertaking quests and journeys in the cold north. He has a near uncontrollable appetite for sweets, however, and often finds himself falling prey to his own stomach-bound urges.
Rumors of him being sighted swallowing smaller living creatures have been heard, but never confirmed.
*Heavyhoss is not recommended as a companion for dragon-hunters, as his considerable bulk renders him quite slow. He has somehow survived several captures by dragons thus far, though no one seems to know how.
Hoss inhabits a world far prior to the modern day. An era equally wrought with danger and adventure, magic and mystery, harsh mountain lands and long, dark winters. He stands out as not only an abnormally large specimen of his kind, but also a fairly up-beat and empathic soul in an otherwise dark and unforgiving world.
