Brief History:

Born on Fenris' island in Ysgard to the great devourer wolf Fenris and the goddess of parties, Atar in 490,000 BBT. She was immediately discovered and cursed by Odin to never feel joy unless she feels ultimate pain and then exiled with her mother back to the realm of the pharonic gods. She was raised in the sands and made friends with the other gods, gaining her right ear notch in a particularly rough tumble with her playmate, Anubis.

Never quite fitting in with the other pharonic gods, and not allowed to visit the Nordic gods she later left and discovered the young, war-torn plane of Karasuthra, setting up The Vault of Creation as a base for her to work from and allying herself with the neighboring chaos dragons. She created Voldune to be her consort and assistant. He was eventually driven mad by Odin's ravens, Hugin and Munin until he stabbed her to death one night and then fled. A thousand years later her grandparents, Loki, Hathor, and Horus finally managed to work together to resurrect her. She then created the ancient nguar to help wrest the plane from the fighting fey and demon armies in the Battle for the Beastlands. They eventually succeeded, though losses were high and she set up her home in a barren mountain range, terraforming the landscape and creating forests in which to live.

Eventually she sent the remaining ancients to colonize the material planes, ending on Abydos to establish the nguar there. She discovered the other potential young gods before she was killed by Apophis in 10,510 AC during the Battle of the Snake. The young heroes helped resurrect her by the start of the next year and she named them her champions and brought them together as a pantheon after many wars. Over the years she had experienced the agonizing, bone twisting pain of her curse repeatedly, until a seeress' assistant, Macha came along and managed to speak with Odin. She cleared Bakari's name and unclouded Odin's vision, finding her grandmother, Angrboda as the culprit behind her curse; allowing Bakari to make her place in the Nordic pantheon.
She is currently plotting the doom of several groups of troublemakers and frost giants across the planes and is attempting to collect all of the missing moon poppies in order to bring back her fallen ancients.

I'm actually a little surprised someone even looked over here! :D Thanks! <3

        *giggles and noses* No problem

Fascinating. Did you play all this out in-game, or is it backstory?

    • Link

A bit of both, some backstory can be witnessed by players during 'memories', other stuff is just too far back in history. Gods tend to stay separate from all but other gods, so the access to personal backstories is limited in the sense that you have to have a god character to partake in the story line (and at the time this stuff occured, there weren't any PC gods). Bits of the stuff with mortals did occur with PCs (Macha being one of them), though even the oldest story line only dates back about 25 years of game time (though it's been played for the last 10 years straight lol).

wow, that's a very long time for a single campaign...! I don't know anyone who's held on to their characters that long. No wonder it's gotten so complicated!

I know Diana (local artist here) http://dhstein.deviantart.com/ has been DMing since 1st Ed, but she hits the reset button whenever it seems played out, all new PCs, same world.

        • Link

We just add more PCs, same players, new NPCs as needed, same world and main NPCs lol it's been running a LONG time and everyone seems fairly content with it, esp now that it's all done as narrative since we're all living too far away from each other.... >.<

          • Link

nods the only really good RP experiences I've had were 1-on-1 narrative style. Coordinating more people than that is impossible. Even coordinating with one person is problematic.

            • Link

It was easier as a tabletop 3.0/3.5 game to get everyone on the same page and working together, but we all live over a thousand miles apart now lol I've strayed FAR from D&D over the years to the point where I only call it a D&D game for the sake of other people understanding the world it's based in. I've changed everything from physics to basic rules lol It's no longer the same, it's just retaining some of the same names since I haven't had the chance to get around to changing them.
