Fester by Tonin

Fester

Fester

No one's as pretty under their fur
As we all would like to pretend
For under the pelt there lies pallid flesh
And flesh, it is weak in the end

No one's as happy inside the mask
As they wish the world would believe
It hurts to admit the faults of our hearts
Much easier just to deceive

We wrap our scars in fur soft and warm
And tell ourselves fur is the truth
That what lies beneath was not meant to be
Nor endure past first bloom of youth

Thus do we salve the wounds that won't heal
Buried as they are by our pride
We fester in fur that won't set us free
But only allows us to hide

People that like who they are don't have to pretend to be someone else.

    An uncomfortable truth!

It is at that. Fortunately though, like all art, it's only a half-truth.

Nope. I never kid. Kids are for goats. We wolves pup. *deadpans*
