GOD THIS SHIT IS LATE
Новый железного занавеса - The New Iron Curtain
"From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the Continent." -Winston Churchill
ENG
♫ Oh, so full, so full is my crate,
There's even chintz and brocade.
Have mercy, sweetie, my loved one
For this lad's shoulder!
Have mercy, sweetie, my loved one
For this lad's shoulder!
Come out, come out into the tall rye,
There I will wait until the night,
And will see the girl with the dark eyes,
showcase all my goods.
And will see the girl with the dark eyes,
showcase all my goods.
Myself I have paid no small price,
So don't bargain, don't be stingy,
Present your scarlet lips,
Sit closer to the lad.
Present your scarlet lips,
Sit closer to the lad.
Now the misty night has come,
The daring lad awaits,
There she comes! The loved one is here,
The merchant will sell his goods.
There she comes! The loved one is here,
The merchant will sell his goods.
Cautiously the lass is haggling,
Afraid to give everything away,
The guy kisses the girl,
Asks for a higher price.
The guy kisses the girl,
Asks for a higher price.
Only the deep night knows,
What kind of deal they made.
Straighten up now, tall rye,
And faithfully keep the secret!
Straighten up now, tall rye,
And faithfully keep the secret! ♫
Korobushka (Коробейники) ~ Pyatnitsky State Russian Folk Choir ~ 1995
(Personally, my favorite rendition of this song).

In 1985, computer student Alexey Pajitnov at the Soviet Academy of Sciences of Moscow created the game Tetris. It featured a board where seven varieties of falling blocks enter to create a puzzle. This new game was proved to be a stimulant for the active mind as it helped to solve problems faster with the increasing speed of the blocks in each level. When a line was cleared on the board, it would disappear. It was first played on an Elektronika 60 computer with simple graphics and controls. The first versions of Tetris struck it big behind the Iron Curtain in Communist Bloc countries, and soon made itself into the West by means of various Western companies marketing the game under their name. Many legal battles were fought with these companies and the Soviet State for Pajnitov to claim ownership for his work. After the fall of the Soviet Union, he has since then created the Tetris Company and spawned many versions to the game on all platforms and continues to be the best-selling game of all time.[b/]
HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY TETRIS!!!
So here we have a building crew of Mishya, Larissa, and Karen constructing a wall around Red Square composed entirely out of Tetris blocks. Based on the uniforms, they're situated into the last years of the Second World War. The two ladies forge the purple T-block to eventually be dropped into the wall. Mishya stands there convincing you to get back to work, since the blocks keep on falling.
Возвращайся к работе, товарищ! - Get back to work, comrade!
So this is my favorite (and most dcolorful) picture in my gallery, to date. I had a lot of fun, frustration, and creative flow making this one. Styled like a propaganda poster, it's meant to represent two periods in Soviet history. Obviously, it represents the period in which Tetris became an instant hit (1985-1991) but it also represents the Siege of Moscow during WWII (1943-1945) as a representation of "guarding" Moscow and the period costumes. Shows how much I honor Russia for standing strong during those times. And for Tetris to be a successful video game stemming from the Cold War era and beginning new ties of Westernization.
ALTERNATE UNIFORMS FTW!!!!
Enjoy~ :3
I finished this picture about a week ago (a few days after the anniversary of Tetris; June 9) but was too lazy to post it; pretty daunting task for me, especially in the hot weather.
I REALLY WANT SOME FUCKIN' COMMENTS AFTER DOING THIS SHIT
