Thanks! There was also some pretty good suggestions in the comments of the video on Youtube. When I submitted this to Reddit as well, someone mentioned that it is possible that the crappy batteries I was using also led to servo failure so that's definitely something to keep in mind!
Although in general with the necomimi headband being so uncomfortable (check out the tumblr link for more info) I would just recommend using something else via arduino (also mentioned and linked in the tumblr link).
