Yo, a drawing of a drawing of a... by Zuff (critique requested)

Yo, a drawing of a drawing of a... (critique requested)

Zuff

A friend suggested this idea, so I figured I would draw it.

This picture has a lot of "Darn, that could have been done better!"'s in it, but hey, at least I had fun. Again, there is something about it that just screams out "This doesn't look right!" Not that I can figure out what it is, given this time the harder parts of her body (chest, arms, wrists) are covered by the paper. Go fig.

Any advice or criticism is always appreciated, whether it be about the shading, proportions, little things I missed or whatever, really.

If you don't have any advice to give, well, I hope you like the pic!

I love the expression, and the colour scheme is nice too. I've always liked having the lines a similar colour to the fill colour.

Ah, thank you Sofox for the comment! I am glad you liked my drawing. :)

What doesn't look right? Okay here goes.

The goggles are smaller than her eyes. One lens is a huge dome while the other appears flat. The colour change brought on by looking through each lens is different. She has a grey eye for some reason that's not due to lighting (Intentional I guess). Her mouth is not in the least bit central. It is extremely uncomfortable to attempt to bend your neck in one direction while tilting your head in the other. It's more comfortable to stick your elbows out than to put them together while holding something up like that. Her torso might be too long. Her bolted-on pocket isn't what I'd expect to see on a regular pair of trousers. And finally, who draws colour pictures on brown paper?

Ah, fantastic! Thank you so much for all the criticisms! A lot of those I didn't even notice, while others I wasn't sure how to fix. Her right eye, for example, is blind. Though, I really don't know how to portray that with her extremely simplistic style, especially since her iris is hidden most the time by her hair.

Thanks for the anatomically-related advice / positioning as well. In regards to the clothing, fantastic observations! Other than the aforementioned screw up with the goggles, most of it is still in the works. I know what kind of person she is, but I am still not sure how to dress her to portray it (not to mention I am a dunce when it comes to clothing, and had to genuinely look up some jeans). I suppose knowing what I am doing would help me out a bit. ;)

Anyway, again, thanks for the feedback! Greatly appreciated. :)

Blind eye, fine. So it would either be an eye that doesn't work, which is usually represented by having a pale iris I think, or she doesn't have an eye there at all, which could leave a permanently closed eyelid and a sunken, shadowed eye socket.

Or you could have some fun and bolt on a metal eyepatch or something.

Keep at it, anyway. This is pretty cool.
