Finding the Storyteller

Zaezar

A commission for AxeltheCatGuy on Furaffinity. Aärvid is a storyteller with a bit of a condition. He has to be working constantly with his hands, usually he is carving little statues. He accepts payment in wood and other carvable goods in exchange of his unique stories. Unfortunately he lives in an area with very little natural life. So its a bit more costly to get his services. Axel seems to think this cost is worthwhile, and has spent the time or money in order to hear what Aärvid has to tell. I wonder what faraway tales will be told. Maybe its not an ancient epic, but a recent one of heroism in a modern age. Either way, its an afternoon of learning and entertainment.

Thank you for the commission Axel. I really did enjoy working on this!

I love the character concept, would make for a great means of world development within a story beyond just outright explaining it.
Also like the root, looks very woody and natural.

That's actually why he exists! I want the other characters to learn about their history and world events, but I didn't want it to feel hammy. He has the added benefit of letting me make a mini-series of telling tales to flesh out the world to the readers in a natural way :D

Love that, might have to steal the idea for a campaign I'm running. Players want more background information but don't want it to come out in a way that is kind of like "surprise your characters now know more about the world they inhabit for no reason"
Always have trouble making that information come out in a more natural way. Usually relegate it to news articles or database hacking, since the players are kind of anti-living when it comes to NPCs

I'm certain that I am not the first to have the idea either. Feel free to use it or a similar one in your campaigns!
